Good thing they killed this guy and there isn't anyone else alive that knows anything about nuclear energy or weapons.

Mission accomplished!

What would our response have been if the Soviets had assassinated Oppenheimer in the 50's?

Under trump, a ticker tape parade I guess.

With this killing maybe Iran will start to see the importance of housing key people within the facilities that produce fissionable material. With several barriers of protection, the Israelis will have to launch on them and get out of the kingpin surgical strike business.

Iranian higher ups don't commute to work like this scientist did. It's time they quit treating them like laborers.

With the number of things which have happened in-country this decade, I wonder how their country's leadership feels about how seemingly accessible their close and prized assets are to the outside world.

The Iranians probably feel like they need a nuclear deterrent to ensure the safety of their people.

How do you think they feel, GoNoles?

Does Iran scare you, like a good little Republican?

That's a nice way to say enslave the physicists and lock them in a mountain, never to see daylight.

No, lol. Iran is barely anything other than a soft target for the money machine.

Interesting coincidence that this guy passed right before a "planned" US withdrawal from AFG. Nothing like some timely regional unrest to cancel any halfhearted withdrawal plan.

Looking at history through nuke colored glasses...the best thing the Iranian leadership could do is develop deliverable nuclear weapons. ASAP. The US has a long history of backing down from countries that can actually give them a black eye.

If it isn't completed by the time Biden takes office it won't happen. Frankly it shouldn't happen at this time. I hate our presence there but allowing the Taliban and ISIS to regain the country is not an answer either.

Really sounds like Trump is trying to start a war on his way out. It would indeed be tragic if Iran decided to take out someone in this country in retaliation for at least 2 killings of 2 hereos to certain groups in Iran. Say a former president with a minimal security detail. Tragic because it would start a war. Just saying - Trump put a target on his head.

I think it's ironic that we worry about "atomic" weapons and who gets to have them... as if we have a say. 9/11 we were attacked with box cutters. Vietnam kicked our red white and blue @$$es without a nuke. The rest of our myriad conflicts are stuck in a stalemate for decades. Did we stop communism? Well if you don't count China, Venezuela, etc... sure... ha ha

We have more nukes than anyone they are expensive and dangerous to maintain and aren't doing us any favors. If we had any brains we would be offloading some of our excess inventory.

Iran knows full well who murdered their top nuclear scientist. It was Israel.

Israel has been trying for years to lure the United States into a proxy war with Iran. So far every President of the United States has sidestepped the issue, then along came a weakling (Trump) who seemed interested in Israel's proposal ~ at least it appeared so on the surface.

Now here it is, at the end of the Trump administration, and Israel is desperate.

There's not a doubt in my mind that the murder of Dr. Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was a set up to drag the United States into a nuclear war with Iran.

Israel, who is surrounded by Muslim nations, would be attacked and annihilated themselves if they declared war with Iran alone. They need that proxy.

As an addendum to my #16, I think it should be noted that Trump has been trying to gin up an excuse to attack Iran ~~ much like the WMD lies George W. used to justify the Iraq War.

Not to help Israel but rather to set the Middle East on fire and walk away leaving an international crises for President Biden.

I'm not sure how the Defense Department would react to such a nefarious scheme from a lame duck president who has a perverted and self-serving history of bad decisions that always backfire on the United States.

If we're lucky Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei and his Assembly of Experts will have faith in President Biden's plan to restore and re-join the Iranian Nuclear Accords.

Reports are Biden's team has been in communication with Iran on that very subject.

Other than Iran's justified suspicions, thanks to Trump removing the U.S. from the Iranian Nuclear Accord (the genesis for an attack on Iran), it may not be too hard a sell.

Nobody wants war in the Middle East except Israel, who thought they'd struck gold when Trump backed out of the Iranian Nuclear Accords. Now, with the killing of Iran's nuclear scientist, Israel is trying to jump start a war in the final hours of Trump's ability to do so.

Trump is crazy enough to try ~ not for Israel ~ but rather to lay waste at the doorstep of Biden's presidency.

"Trump is crazy enough to try ~ not for Israel ~ but rather to lay waste at the doorstep of Biden's presidency."

That sounds a lot like the reason he fired a dissenter like Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.

Why is Israel an ally of ours? They are tiresome, murdering theocrats. We have NO common interests to speak of. They view the US as stupid and easily manipulated. We should tell them they are on their own.

Then you would see peace in the ME.

Because Israel is a military foothold for the U.S. in the Middle East.
