The recovery in the American job market is still painfully slow. Another 778,000 people filed for first-time unemployment benefits last week on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Only people who are opening unemployment claims get counted. People who have already burned through the unemployment checks are missing. People who have become discouraged after failing to find work are similarly not counted. REAL unemployment may be closer to twenty percent!
