What a bunch of schmoos. Can't get serious about anything unless Democrats are in power.

Maybe they want another tax cut. Yea, the last one worked out so well.

Well, you can't say they're not serious about anything.
They're always dead serious about power and money, namely, making both theirs.

If Republicans are truly concerned about deficits, I know where they can get $2.3 Trillion.

Clawing back the tax cuts from the Republicans to their wealthy donors ought to be a high-priority!

Republicans being hypocrites?.... who could have seen that coming.

Great! Here are some suggestions on reducing the deficit: -cancel the 2017 tax breaks to rich folk and corporations -STOP CONSTRUCTION ON THE WALL! Cancel all construction-related contracts, give back the land that was misappropriated, and apologize -Raise the gasoline tax and the jet fuel tax, to fund those grand infrastructure plans -Fund birth control measures, Sosa to reduce the abortion count -install the Chris Rock tax on ammunition for all those firearms floating around our country. Not everyone has the time, skill or inclination to make their own bullets and shotgun shells

Yes, there's even word that McConnell is going to resist providing federal funds for distributing and administering the vaccine(s), that that's the responsibility of the states. The vaccine itself will be provided at no cost, but there are only limited funds currently allocated to cover distribution costs. I think McConnell's thoughts were that Trump was going to be reelected and therefore he would have no problem delivering the money when Trump asked for it, but now that Biden will be president during the period where the vast majority of the vaccinations will take place, that this has changed the 'math' for him and he is now taking the position that it's the state's responsibility to actually deliver the vaccine(s) to the doctors and local clinics. He'll make sure there's money to inoculate military personnel and probably members of Congress and their staffs and families, but that's where most of the federal money will be spent, not for the rest of the country.

No, the tax cuts are part of the overall scheme. This way, the Republicans will say that only spending cuts can be used to reduce the deficit because corporate tax cuts and those for the uber rich are permanent. Of course, they'll be willing to raise taxes on the poor and middle-class, since their tax cuts were never intended to be permanent, and in fact will be starting to phase-out in 2025, after what would have been Trump's second term. Of course, now that Biden has been elected, I can see McConnell accelerating the ending of those middle-class tax cuts, and claiming that this will help reduce the deficit and therefore is a necessary step to take.

If Republicans want balanced budgets, or if they're serious about paying down debt, they should be advocating for rolling back tax cuts all the way back to pre-Reagan.

If Republicans want balanced budgets, or if they're serious about paying down debt,
Nothing within my lifetime has shown either of these to be true.
Perhaps it's because I wasn't alive during the Eisenhower administration.
But if we have to go back that far to find the Republicans who actually want balanced budgets and controlled debt. I'd suggest they're extinct.

Every time a Dem lands in the White House, the GOP is suddenly concerned about the Deficit and the National Debt. We have seen this movie before you all. Some of us (who are old enough) several times over. Next will come the GOP's hue and cry that we need to "CUT THE SOCIAL SAFETY NET!" Everything from Medicare and Medicaid, to Food Stamps and Social Security... DONT BUY IT! The GOP is always fine with cutting corporate tax rates and the tax rates of millionaires and billionaires, but when it comes to programs that help the dwindling Middle Class, it's, "Fire up the Chainsaw!" AGAIN, do NOT buy it! It is all just a ploy for what the GOP really wants to do in America, which is destroy the Middle Class in America, so all that is left are the rich (CEO's) and the working poor, unable to retire, and forced to work until they keel over dead. Fight it instead!

Head-shakingly hypocritical, isn't it, running up massive debt and deficits then blaming Dems when they're out of power?

Eliminate Trumps tax cuts for the wealthy, bring back the Reagan era tax rate, cut the defense budget in half.
Problem solved with plenty of $$$ to find 100% government paid for healthcare.
