-Have any of you thought about how you explain this ---- to your kids?
Already have..and for the most part, they've figured it out. Their opinion of Trump and his staunch supporters are entrenched in their minds.
My daughter was too young to remember 9/11.
Growing up, my parents, grandparents, etc. all recalled the same date that was permanently etched in their memory. They all remember where they were and the details of the day when JFK was assassinated. I imagine Television was a factor in that. I wasn't born yet but I'll take their word for it as to how impactful that event was on them...but it's a consistent memory for all of them. I would have though Pearl Harbor was bigger....but we didn't have TV yet and I suspect if we had CNN during Pearl Harbor broadcasting live the events??? That would eclipse JFK.
But nothing since JFK until 9/11 in terms of the impact on people's memory.
I'll never forget the details of that day. The fear for my kids, their future, and what was going to happen next.
Yesterday's storming of the Capitol? Ugly, embarrassing, and even deadly. It amazes even me that Trump supporters would take it that far....and that we would let them.
But I don't have the same level of concern of how much our world will change after what happened yesterday.
I think the level of anger and hostility displayed yesterday on this thread was driven NOT by what was done or what happened.....it was all about WHO did it. You're all so upset with Trump and his supporters, you chose to elevate the events of yesterday to 9/11. Anybody who dared question that comparison was hammered pretty hard.
"It happened from within!!!"
So? If 9/11 had been perpetrated by US citizens, would it have made 9/11 worse? An argument can be made for that but it's nothing but a massive "what if" and I think it was nothing but a deflection to support an unsubstantiated level of hostility towards anybody who disagreed with you.
Anybody who disagreed with anything here yesterday got a big GFY no matter how small and trivial the issue.
But to those of you who were blogging angry yesterday.....take some responsibility for your choices.
