Amazon notified Parler that it would be cutting off the social network favored by conservatives and extremists from its cloud hosting service Amazon Web Services, according to an email obtained by BuzzFeed News. The suspension, which will go into effect on Sunday just before midnight, means that Parler will be unable to operate and will go offline unless it can find another hosting service.

"This was a coordinated attack by the tech giants to kill competition in the market place," he wrote on Parler. "We were too successful too fast."

On Parler, reaction to the impending ban was swift and outraged with some discussing violence against Amazon. "It would be a pity if someone with explosives training were to pay a visit to some AWS data centers," one person wrote"

Recent threads on Parler have called for the execution of Vice President Mike Pence and encouraged the conspiracy theory that left-wing antifa activists were behind Wednesday's events."

Good people on both sides, right?

They probably will strike out finding a hosting service anywhere in a Western democracy.

It wouldn't be surprising if Anonymous starts havinga little fun with Parler.

I heard Dershowitz tell them all to go to Rumbler...

No censoring there! So head in over there you boogalosers. So we know where to find you.

The FBI has a few questions for you.

Catering to extreme factions (regardless of ideology) and outlaws is a self-limiting business model that we have seen fail time and again. You are limiting your potential user base and therefore your revenue potential because the vast majority of the people are not going to be attracted to a service that allows radicalized views to openly spread. And with extremism comes threats of violence, slander/libel and criminal conspiracy. The unmoderated forum also draws in other criminal behavior such as hacking/fraud, trafficking of illegal goods and humans, kiddie porn, etc. Sites and services like this need to capture media attention/go viral to draw in new users if they want to grow their revenue but once they catch some press they also draw lawsuits and the attention of law enforcement. The revenue growth that may come with new found users won't be enough to cover the cost of expanding infrastructure and product development along with the new legal expenses. This results in the service either tighten their moderation policies which quickly drives away the extremists or they close up shop or get shut down by law enforcement or lose their business partners that enable their business to operate.

The parlar founder's message was a mess: both "we were prepared for this," but also "we may be offline for a week before we come back as a service," and "we have many providers competing for our business."
They had 48 hours to begin planning to mitigate the outage, and if they didn't have their backups on hand, based on the size of their network, it would have taken ~ 1 week to transfer that data starting from Saturday.
They're also looking to hire a senior developer and a senior infrastructure engineer as quick-fill positions.

SO private property rights are only good when they're used to discriminate against gays or force your religion on your employees?

Righties. If they didn't have their stupid they'd have nothing at all.

!@10 ... just more free speech suppression from the Left. ...

How so?

Amazon has rules that guide how their service may be used.

Parler broke those rules.

It is as simple as that.

Maverick can't grok the 1930's-style white nationalist authoritarians and their dictator right in front of his eyes.

Here, maybe this will help

Inciting an insurrection is not free. It comes with a price. If you are not willing to pay the price I suggest all you just STFU.

Maverick plays the perfect tolerance of the intolerant paradox drama queen.

No one has to tolerate intolerance period despite what the intolerant demand and post after post of attacking and murdering Americans should never be tolerated.

The gutless wonders that are the "guardians of free speech" are something else.

Sharing my favorite insincere quote (post WWII):
>>>>>>>>>>>>
"When they came for the Jews, I said nothing because I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for the Catholics, I said nothing because I wasn't a Catholic.
When they came for me, there was no one left to speak on my behalf."

Liberals hold themselves up as the moral elite.
They're really more like members of the Soviet politburo.

In really, the quote should read:
>>>>>>>>>>>>
"When they came for the wealthy, I said nothing because I wasn't greedy and selfish.
When they came for the Republicans, I said nothing because I didn't want to enslave blacks.
When they came for the Trump supporters, I said nothing because I didn't want to exterminate the Jews."

"Liberals hold themselves up as the moral elite."

Conservatives hold themselves up as the amoral elite.

"Let the market decide!"

The market made Jeffrey Epstein a rich man, and Ghisaline Maxwell a rich woman.

Trump wishes her well.

When they came for the trump supporters, I said - oh good my tax dollars at work. Putting down fascist uprisings is the duty of our democratic government.

Don't be fascist and you won't have to worry about government prosecution.

Don't forget ~ Rebekah Mercer was the leading financial investor in the startup of Parler, per CEO John Matze.

Ms. Mercer is also the one who, in support of Donald Trump, publicly vowed to "destroy the establishment no matter what it cost."

Fair is fair. Private businesses can refuse service to and collude with like minded business to refuse service to anyone with an opposing political view. I think this are some bakeries that are owed an apology.

Did you just fall out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on your way to the ground?

Inciting insurrection against the US Government is against the law, it isn't "an opposing political view". People are being denied the use of a private service due to their criminal misuse of said service because these entities can be held civilly viable if they don't police their own yards.

There are no laws anywhere against baking goods for gay patrons. The fact that businesses need public licenses and use public services that are supported by gay taxpayers entitles them to the same services every other person receives from private bakers. If religious want to serve only true believers then they should operate as a member-only businesses and pick their customers. Being gay is not a legal reason for denying anyone the very service which is advertised to the public at large.
