The Justice Department is considering bringing sedition or conspiracy charges against people who rioted at the U.S. Capitol last week. "We're looking at significant felony cases tied to sedition and conspiracy," said Michael Sherwin, acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. "We're going to focus on the most significant charges as a deterrent." If found guilty, the rioters could face prison terms of up to 20 years, Sherwin said. |
