"We witnessed actions inside the Capitol building that were inconsistent with the rule of law. The rights of freedom of speech and assembly do not give anyone the right to resort to violence, sedition and insurrection," said the statement, released Wednesday and signed by America's most senior general, Mark Milley, and the entire Joint Chiefs of Staff, which is comprised of the heads of each military branch.

"As Service Members, we must embody the embody the values and ideals of the Nation. We support and defend the Constitution. Any act to disrupt the Constitutional process is not only against our traditions, values, and oath; it is against the law," the statement said.

In addition, the statement referenced the certification of the election by Congress and said, "President-elect Biden will be inaugurated and will become our 46th Commander in Chief.""

"CNN has learned the US Army is working with the Secret Service to determine if there are soldiers who will be part of the National Guard contingent providing security at Biden's inauguration who require additional background screening.

Good to hear.

Senior Army official Lt. Gen. Walter E. Piatt, director of the Army Staff, said on the call (requesting National Guard troops) he couldn't recommend that Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy authorize deployment, Sund and others on the call told the Post. Piatt reportedly said, "I don't like the visual of the National Guard standing a police line with the Capitol in the background," the Post reported.

It would be more than three hours before any National Guard troops arrived, well after the damage at the Capitol had been done.

"I don't like the visual of the National Guard standing a police line with the Capitol in the background,"

The visual that resulted was exponentially worse.

We are in extraordinary times with this, the second time I know of in recent weeks, that military leaders feel the urgency to remind our Troops publicly where their obligations lie.

It's pretty bad when the Joint Chiefs of Staff get involved in a political mess.

If the Joint Chiefs have to send this kind of reminder out, it seems to me they must think - or know - that they have domestic terrorists/MAGAts in the ranks. The question is how many, and which side will these losers choose if push comes to shove?

They've known this for at least a couple decades and have been trying to find and remove them. A friend of mine from high school was radicalized in the Marines. Before that he was just a general run of the mill -----. After, he was a racist -----. Then when he joined the NYPD it got worse. And then 15 years later when he transferred to the FDNY because he was being given a hard time for beating up black folks he arrested and was in danger of losing his pension he got even worse if you can believe that. Now he lives in the Appalachian hills of North Carolina. I cut contact seven or eight years ago when he started spouting Promise Keeper BS but last I spoke to him he was exactly the type of guy that would storm the Capitol. I don't know if he was there but his rhetoric definitely matched.
