Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

The US House of Representatives on Tuesday was prepared to move forward with an effort to forcibly remove Donald Trump from office after he instigated a mob that led a deadly assault on the US Capitol last week. Members debated and were set to vote on what effectively gives Mike Pence an ultimatum: strip Trump of his power or allow him to become the first president in American history to be impeached a second time.

Statement by Liz Cheney.

"The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President," said Cheney. "The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not."

"There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution," she added.

Republicans are showing that, without a doubt, it's party over country for them.

-------- nearly all.

This time Trump's posse of lawyers can't help him. Except to tell him to keep his trap shut.

Re#2 it seems to me worse than you say, everybody looking out for themselves, not ever caring about the party.
McConnell has nose out of joint and wants to impeach, when he had the chance a year ago and blocked it. Not much has changed, except he in angry now.

McCarthy says no impeachment, no ammendment 25 action, maybe a slight rap on the knuckels.

These are indeed amazing times. Things are moving so quickly now that Trumpy could be impeached and removed by Friday! He better hurry and pardon himself.

Because now the great MAGA Hunt of 2021 has begun.

What new thing that has never been done in history will we do tomorrow?

Stay tuned!

We Will See soon enough.

...Already scheduled to leave office next week, Trump is on the verge of becoming the only president in history to be twice impeached. His incendiary rhetoric at a rally ahead of the Capitol uprising is now in the impeachment charge against him, even as the falsehoods he spread about election fraud are still being championed by some Republicans....

What is wrong with those Republicans? Did they not see the damage their lies have caused to America and Americans?

Well, after tomorrow there will only have been 4 impeachments in American history.

Trump will be the recipient of half of them.

"This just makes Pence look like the sackless, albino mannequin that he really is."

That's in poor taste, considering that in some places albinos are actually hunted down and killed like the insurrectionists were trying to do to Pence.

There's a valid argument that the 25th Amendment was never intended to be used in the way some are expecting Pence to use it.

Pence does have something of a Zuckerberg quality to him.

Or the other way round.

Right-wingers: Pence should disregard the text of the constitution and reject the electoral college votes, so he and Trump can "win" the election.

Left-wingers: Pence should disregard the intent of the constitution and invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump.

I think the argument is that Lewzer is an incoherent babbling fool currently ignoring the responsibilities of his office and wasting time and treasure going on a last ditch joyride on probably the most expensive personal aircraft on Earth. To sign a fence in Alamo, TX? Where next? Back to South Dakota to Sharpie himself on Rushmore?

That's a very weak argument for invoking the 25th, especially considering how long he's been a babbling fool, wasting time and treasure. It's not sufficient evidence that he's incapable of executing his duties as necessary. Impeachment is the remedy for a President who isn't willing to do so, which appears to be the case with Trump.
