Tensions flared Tuesday evening between a handful of House Republicans and the Capitol Police over new metal detectors that were placed outside the House chamber in the wake of the attack on the Capitol.

"The lawmakers were heard by reporters complaining about the detectors and railing against Democrats as they tried to enter the House chamber to vote, saying they were not consulted by Democratic leadership about the decision to install the devices.

"You're taking valuable resources completely away from where it needs to be, and you guys did it without any consultation with the minority," Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) shouted at House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) before calling the detectors "--------."

"You are creating a problem you do not understand the ramifications of," Rep. Steve Womack (R-Ark.) yelled at the police manning the detectors, shouting at them to "get back" and "don't touch me."

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), who has touted her desire to carry her Glock pistol in the Capitol, was also seen by a reporter setting off a detector and refusing to turn her bag over to the police for inspection.

While it was not immediately clear what the confrontation with the officers was about, Boebert later tweeted, "I am legally permitted to carry my firearm in Washington, D.C. and within the Capitol complex" and that the detectors are "just another political stunt by Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi" that wouldn't have prevented last week's riots."

What the ---- does she need a Glock for in the floor on Congress. What is this 1834?

Boebert is the one tweeting Pelosi's location out to the mob hunting her during the trump siege.

She's has bigger problems than a metal detector.

Until yesterday she was one of those Tweeting exultantly to my own Representative, Traitor Jodey Arrington, another member of the Sedition Caucus.

She went dark almost the instant it was apparent there would not be 100% GOP support for their behavior.

"If they are not hiding anything, why the concern about the metal detectors?"

Quoted in #1 ... the detectors are "just another political stunt by Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi" that wouldn't have prevented last week's riots." ...

How would metal detectors installed now affect what happened last week?

That aside...

My guess is that the metal detectors are a precaution to deal with the possibility (that surfaced last week) that some Republican Representatives may be more loyal to the insurrectionists than to the Constitution.

Until that aspect of what happened last week is fully investigated, if I were a Representative, I would want the metal detectors to stay.

Of course the metal detectors wouldn't changed anything last week. That's addressed at the exterior entrances and outside.

But the metal detectors should be there and nobody should be allowed to carry a gun in the chamber

She knows that members of Congress are in peril.

She has already acted in a Criminal Conspiracy with Domestic Terrorists, which placed the 2nd in Presidential Succession Protocols, and all other Representatives to be in imminent danger for her/their life.

And she wants to be the only person in Congress to walk around in-session and at meetings with the personal power of life and death, every minute, over each Congress-person, Aide, Paige or Staffer.

She gets off on the fear she imposes.

She is creating danger to the Congress, from within the Body.

When she is interviewed By Secret Service and FBI, she should be considered "Armed and Dangerous". When she is arrested, LEOs should have SWAT back-up.

She will kill.

She is the MOB.

She is the Congressional face of Sedition.

Why is this news? Libs have balked at metal detectors at schools, airports, and many other places for years. It's died down in recent years but when it was becoming a thing, Libs went nuts about it saying it would hurt the minds of our fragile children (in reference to schools, other excuses have come out about other types of buildings). But now that Reps are arguing over them, all of a sudden it's a bad thing.

Hypocrisy never dies. We should change our Constitution to say Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Hypocrisy.

What was interesting during the insurrection was that her fellow Representatives seemed to be afraid of her, and did not "feel safer" being with her because she had the gun.

It wasn't the "monster under your bed" Libs who tried to stage a coup.

Get over it.

I am tremendously embarrassed that Boebert is my Representative. Unfortunately, there was little the sane voters here could do about it. In this district, that has about an 80 percent voter turnout, Republicans often receive 65-70 percent of the vote. As the election of someone as ideologically crazy as Q-bert demonstrates, these voters don't care about anything but the party line.

No, they didn't.

Liberals have always been the ones adding security measures for gun free zones while Conservatives oppose it.

I love a good WHATABOUT THE DEMS, but quick question - how many of those dems had just participated in encouraging an armed insurrection of angry morons to try and overthrow democracy.

It's going to be a hard few years for all of you false equivilancy superfans. Good luck convincing the world that looting t-shirts from target is on par with armed insurrection at the capitol.

The irony.
House GOP want to require every state to pass a strict photo ID law...
yet walking through a metal detector is an outrage that must be actively resisted, and this immediate;y after a near-coup that they themselves inspired.
...
They really are scum.

I never wrote this before in my life, but this Trumper business has been ENOUGH for me; they must be denounced at EVERY OPPORTUNITY.

They should all be subjected to millimeter wave scanners, the ones that see you naked, on entry to the building, and before entry into each wing that's designated secure. There also should be a narcotics dog and a bomb dog at each place. They need to take off their shoes and pass them through an x-ray system along with their electronics and personal baggage. No liquids over 3.4 oz. If they need something over that size it can be purchased from the gift shop inside.

So to Trumpist extremists, masks are off the table because of the giant hoax that somehow keeps killing our citizens, and carrying guns is a non-negotiable right at the very location where an attempted government overthrow they incited took place a few days ago. Got it.

Anyone still think we're going to be able to "unite" with this deranged cult of death and belligerence?

I suspect that had the terrorists found them, that she would have pulled her gun and joined them in holding as hostages the Democratic members and those Republicans deemed not sufficiently loyal to Dear Leader. I think that more than a few Democratic members believe the same thing.

Whining about "unconstitutional" metal detectors, but ignoring unconstitutional acts by the President. How John Milton of them. No, Robert Conrad would fit better.
