... A Call For An Evangelical Reckoning On Trump.

As fallout continues from the deadly siege on the U.S. Capitol, Ed Stetzer, head of the Billy Graham Center at Wheaton College, has a message for his fellow evangelicals: it's time for a reckoning. Evangelicals, he says, should look at how their own behaviors and actions may have helped fuel the insurrection. White evangelicals overwhelmingly supported President Trump in the 2020 election. Some in the protest crowd raised signs with Christian symbolism and phrases.

More from the article...

..."Part of this reckoning is: How did we get here? How were we so easily fooled by conspiracy theories?" he tells NPR's Rachel Martin. "We need to make clear who we are. And our allegiance is to King Jesus, not to what boasting political leader might come next."

In the interview, Stetzer also laments that evangelicals seem to have changed their view of morality in order to support Trump.

"So I think we just need to be honest. A big part of this evangelical reckoning is a lot of people sold out their beliefs," he says....

...A big part of this evangelical reckoning is a lot of people sold out their beliefs,...

ya think?

Why did it take them this long to find this out?

This seems to me as more of the "too little, too late" syndrome that is going around, i.e., people suddenly realizing that Pres Trump was not a good person.

As if that were so difficult to see for the past couple three decades.

How are some people easily fooled with conspiracy theories? When you haven't got much in your head to begin with in terms of knowledge and the maturity and insight built on that, shape-shifting lizard people become reasonable constructs.

It's not so much that people "sold out" on their convictions. It's that they never had said convictions at all. The Devil is quite able to quote Scripture, which is as far towards Christianity as these people ever got.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but people like Ted Cruz never believed in America. What he believes in is what helps himself. So he also never believed in Christ.

They seemed to think that putting up some window dressing of being a Chreestian made them so.

I second that emotion.

This is, I'll say again, the same Race War that Charlie Manson tried to start, Helter Skelter, if for somewhat different reasons.

This time it is to maintain white privilege in a not as white society.

Christians seem to have learned (been taught?) that it is OK to sin because you can ask for forgiveness afterwards.

Now they seem to think it was OK to blindly support Pres Trump because they can try to atone for it afterwards.

But I will ask, the damage to the Country has been done... is it not just a case of too little too late?

Rwing "christians" who support Trump also worship Supply-Side Jesus, and are no different from the religious hypocrites in Jesus' day, for whom he reserved his most fervent contempt:
