US President-elect Joe Biden's spokeswoman says the US will maintain travel bans on the UK, much of the EU and Brazil - despite an order from President Donald Trump to lift them.

but we continue to allow easy travel to and from our Southern neighbor, which has millions of Covid cases and zero travel restrictions...

@Sitz - Essential travel only. See Entry and Exit Requirements: here: mx.usembassy.gov

People here are going to Mexico for vacations, regularly. It's restricted like Weed is. You can get it in minutes.

"Five states are designated "red" under the federal stoplight system between January 4 and January 17 (Baja California, Mexico City, Mexico State, Guanajuato, and Morelos). Under red, only essential activities are allowed."

If you're in Texas you're going to vacations in Veracruz, Yuctan. In 7 days all you need is a Covid test negative taken 3 days prior. Besides the fact you can buy negative results online, an instant test will be accepted but given that it's a measure of viral load it doesn't exactly seem conclusive.

#4 - Please cite. I cite my information. Thank you.

Canada locks Americans up for that. They don't mess around.

But still significantly less than the US.

I sort of get restricting travel from places where there is abundant circulation of new variants, but considering B1.1.7 is already here I'm not sure I agree that strongly with it.

Anecdotally I know people who have traveled to Mexico for vacation in the recent past.

A co-worker went for a 1 week destination wedding in Cancun.

#7 - could be as Sitz said - certain States in Mexico are open, more lenient, than the 5 he listed. I'd just like to see it on an official government website - since the charge being made is being contrarian to the decision Biden's team made on an entirely different group of countries.

If it is as presented, then it aligns more with the way Biden's treating the EU - some nations ok, some not. the UK and Brazil should be out,100%, at this time.

It's in your link. We have a travel advisory on our side. "Reconsider". "Exercise Caution". Some travel is limited. People like on the Q&A and go anyways, there is no cross check.

lie on the Q&A.

Border hopping for cheap Mexican meds didn't end because of Covid. It took a brief 2 week break last March.

People in SD can get to and from TJ with no problems if they have Global Entry.

Ah - it changed from when I posted it. It now says:

"Ten states are designated "red" under the federal stoplight system between January 18 and January 31 (Coahuila, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico City, Mxico state, Morelos, Nuevo Len, Quertaro, and Tlaxcala). Under red, only essential activities are allowed."

So 5 more states were just added bring it to 10 now, which threw off my "find" because I foolishly included that number as part of the quote.

I think anyone going on vacation these days, in another country that will have them, is insane.

#12 Going to Mexico for a week or a weekend is a routine event for thousands of people here. Mexico isn't about to start saying "No" to those gringo dollars.

Funny, Trump placed multiple travel bans during his tenure and he was labelled as racist, xenophobic, etc. by Dems. Yet, here the Dems are. I believe this is another example of where I said watch what you wish for, soon it will be Dems who are wanting it. And here we are. It's funny, but at the same time incredibly sad, how predictable both parties are if you just follow the hate.

If you're going to post something at least understand it.

Trump's travel ban was called xenophobic because it was only a ban on Chinese travelers with no impact on travelers (Chinese or otherwise...) from Europe or non-Chinese travelers from China.

So STFU already you ignorant turd.

I'd say just go to South Padre Island, but you can't pick up Valium, Xanax, Tramadol, Colchicine, etc. over the counter.
