Even locked up in a detention center on the outskirts of Moscow, Kremlin critic Alexey Navalny continues to be a thorn in Russian President Vladimir Putin's side.

"Late Tuesday, which marked the opposition leader's first day at the infamous Matrosskaya Tishina facility, his team dropped a colossal investigation into the President's wealth, offering Russians to take look into what they allege is "Putin's palace" on the Black Sea.

Navalny and his Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) called the report their "biggest investigation yet." It contains allegations of vast corruption schemes related to what they say is Putin's property estimated to be worth around $1.4 billion."

fav paragraph

"As the Navalny site sarcastically states: "On the plan it is designated as a 'hookah room.' And all would be fine, but there is not a single window in that room, but for some reason there is a stage, a dressing room, spotlights, and something very similar to a pole drawn on the plan. We thought for a long time what it could be. Perhaps they make giant shawarmas there... Or it's a training ground for firefighters."

here's one news report video

After Trump learned about Putin's estate, it's no wonder he groveled at his feet like a guy who realizes his 'wealth' (borrowed money) and house (where he isn't supposed to live) pale in comparison.

Plus, he's hundreds of millions in debt (not counting Deutche Bank), most likely to Putin and his oligarch buddies. Who don't f*** around with people who stiff them.

Russian writers, cant get enough. Russian painters, yes yes yes. Russian sculptors, S tier someone-needs-to-sack-the-balance-team OP.
So why is Russian architecture such crap?
If anyone mentions St. Basil's my next three eyelash wishes will be that you are sent to an Epcot themed gulag.

#5 From what I understand, Bolshevik/Communist architecture is square and barren of any monuments, gargoyles, or lentils because they believed it was a waste of effort. It's what happens when the scientific technocrats take over the government, at least a socialist-communist government. And I say this boldly as a scientist. Sometimes progress in the name of efficiency can go too far.

That sounds right, but even the pre revolution Byzantine knockoffs are crap. They swing from over candied ginger bread houses to a single brick of lego with no windows in one generation.

The 1920s-1930s Russia is called Constructivist Architecture, it had more flair than Stalinist Architecture that came after. The Zuev Worker's Club isn't far off of something you might find in Vegas in the early to mid 90s.

Constructivist is what you get when people have a love affair with the ideas of socialism and communism. Idealism.
Stalinist architecture is what you get when you achieve single party communism. Brutalism.

The impact of brutalism lasts longer, especially when it's nostalgia for old dudes from the tail end of that era.

Your comment pretending that those three things are the same is garbage. Totally garbage. If you don't understand the difference between the three things then you need to get educated. If, as is more likely, you do know the diffences between those three things then you really are just a dishonest troll here.

Which word triggered you? It's not my fault their buildings went from having an Art Deco style appeal to ugly boxes once they transitioned to Communism under Stalin.
