Poynter's Tom Jones write about Biden's inaugural speech: "That line about "lies told for power and for profit" surely was directed not only at Trump, but at the media companies that have enabled Trump during his presidency."

The issue I have with "The Media" type of comments is the simple following question...
Who or what is meant by the appellation, "The Media"?
Really.
Fmr Pres Trump (OK, is feels so much better to type the "fmr" now...) has made "the media" a political hot potato, similar to his efforts to make wearing a mask politically incorrect.
... but at the media companies that have enabled Trump during his presidency. ...
Specifically, who are those "media companies"?
From the cited article...
...Tom Jones is Poynter's senior media writer. ...
What good is a "media writer" (a "senior" one, no less) if the "media" writer cannot provided the necessary deails to understand that of which he writes.
imo, I would have written the byline as...
Tom Jones is Poynter's page-hit whore of a headline writer. And I'd have lowered my view of Poynter for enabling such a careless writer (as a "senior"!!).

It's not enough to do it at the ceremony. This needs to be beaten into the heads of america every day from now on - right wing media lies to you. Republicans are refusing to help fix problems. That's it. Say it at every press conference. Tweet it all day. Say it til they realize it's true. Over and over. Repetition works on morons.

Of course Fox "News" has Hannity on instead of anything to do with the Inauguration celebration.

@#3 ... right wing media lies to you. ...
While I do not necessarily disagree with your premise, that is not what Pres Biden said.

No he said "lies". He's already not being specific enough. This is the war that america has to fight now - truth vs lies. And I'm not sure biden has the spine to fight it. It's going to be intense if he wants to win it. I'm afraid his urge to "return to normalcy" will blind him to the size of the problem and the priority it needs to be if he wants to save the country.

All ready with the shiv to go in his back. That didn't take long.
He just might not be pure enough.

He's not "The One".

@#6 .. No he said "lies". ...
If you want to quote my comments, please endeavor to do so more correctly.
Yes, Pres Biden did say the word "lies."
But I noted that he had not ascribed "lies" specifically to "right wing media," as your comment so badly cherry-picks in its quote.
I was disagreeing that Pres Biden explicitly stated that "right wing media lies."
Do you have any citations to the contrary?

That's clearly what he was referencing. But he needs to name the enemy if he wants to protect the country from them.

@#10 .... That's clearly what he was referencing. ...
So you got nothing to substantiate your assertion of what you said his comment was.

There's no need to go there yet, let's try to heal first. I'm more interested in holding the terrorists accountable first, and that's going to be divisive enough, especially considering impeachment too. I'm not looking to scorch more Earth than needed during the first 100 days.

Tell me what else he could have been referencing. You think when he said LIES he meant baker mayfield's promise that they'd be in the superbowl?

@#13 ... Tell me what else he could have been referencing. ...
So you now want me to substantiate what you have asserted? That seems odd.
I'd proffer that if you make a statement, that you should be the one who needs to substantiate that statement, that it is not the responsibility of the audience to substantiate it.
But that's just me. :)

Biden might've sounded equivocal because it was a formal ceremony and his main theme was peace and togetherness. Of course he had to couch "lies" ambiguously. And it was a dog whistle to anyone with a sense of discernment.
Lamplighter, I rarely contradict a fellow traveler, but I think you're being tedious about this simply to argue, not to prove a point. Please don't take this admonishment personally. You most always make sense.

I'd just be happy if he started out small, like making a single definition for the word "democracy." In the past 6 months it has come to mean whatever the person using the word wants it to mean to support their stance. I'm sure that will be fixed in the Constitution 2.0...

No I want you to offer another possibility he could have been referencing when he said lies, beside right wing media lies. You're the one saying he could have meant something else, so just give us one of your alternate possibilities...

I love how when Biden called out White Supremacists, Charlie Kirk tweeted that Trump supporters should be offended. Like Bro, you are literally just admitting to the charge.

More trash. I mean, Biden's speech was awesome and I'd love to see this theme play out. But...
"That line about "lies told for power and for profit" surely was directed not only at Trump, but at the media companies that have enabled Trump during his presidency."
There is no surprise at all that a Liberal outlet would do what Liberals do and make the sentiment that "Anything Liberals or Liberal outlets say = true and relevant; anything that Cons or Con outlets say = false and irrelevant."
And this coming from the party with a VP who wants to create a committee to monitor speech. If you can't see the problem in that, let me give you a short explanation...you are a person who wants a Dictator in office who can limit what people say and do.
