"The plot failed after a group of Department of Justice (DOJ) officials uncovered the plan and threatened to resign en masse if Trump and Clark followed through with it. Rosen stayed in his position for the remainder of the administration."

Trump kept trying to steal the election , this way and that way. It's a miracle he didn't succeed:

This is one amazing crazy scoop by @ktbenner . Kudos to her, but underscores what a dark night we've braved and come out of. This is Bolshevik stuff by our ousted MAGA regime.

SCOOP: The acting head of DOJ's civil division spoke with Trump about a plan to stop the steal; and then told Acting AG Rosen that he was gonna be replaced in order for the plan to be implemented. And then DOJ senior leaders said they would quit en masse.

I hope the Dems can incorporate the new info coming out into the case for impeachment:

The torrent of new information about his misconduct in the final weeks is just beginning. It will not be possible to just move on. And conviction by the Senate is all the more important.

When I think of the number of ways that we almost lost our constitutional republic over the course of the last few months, it makes me shudder. What concerns me even more is that those who would want to turn us into a fascist autocracy have learned from their recent exercises. They will keep trying, and may eventually succeed.

Lol bombshell? He's been trying that for 2 months.

And you supported him the entire time Phester. I doubt you even know what was wrong with that.

#5 - this was a coup that Trump attempted on the DOJ. It is not what "(h)e's been trying" for "2 months." that we knew about. This is significant.

Trump didn't miss a trick...except the one that was on him.

Overturning the election in Georgia (16 electoral votes) wasn't going to make Trump president.

There has to be something more to that nefarious plot than meets the eye.

One of Trump's well known "Terrible Twos" tantrums maybe?

Revenge against Gov. Brian Kemp(R) whom Trump accused of betraying him?

Infantile display of impotence over loss of control?

Trump said many times "I can't believe I lost Georgia."

Trump couldn't believe that the state of Georgia could have been turned blue by Stacey Abrams, neither could that piece of filth Kemp. Georgia showed the world that the real majority of voters, if given a fair chance, can overwhelm the criminals who have ruled them for decades.
Stacy Abrams is changing the world. I love seeing Kemp humiliated by her, oh yes, I honestly do.
The very fact that she is discussed in terms of President or Vice President while he is discussed as a crook, makes me happy! He is a crook, nothing but a crook. He is only Governor because he stole an election. He should be reviled by every citizen of Georgia. Think about it....you could have had Gov. Abrams, but you poor, pathetic white people of Georgia got Kemp instead.

Rachel Maddow was discussing this the night the report came out, and I think she hit on something. Dotard was looking for the first domino that would tumble the other dominoes, a permission structure that would allow those state legislators in PA, MI and AZ to do what they were not willing to be the first to do. If GA fell, if the GOP legislature was somehow able to withdraw it's EC votes due to DOJ recommendation because they were investigating massive election fraud, that would give permission to those other states to do the same. He only needed to negate 37 EC votes to throw the election to the House because neither candidate got the necessary 270 votes. In the House, Combover Quisling would have won because the GOP holds more state delegations.

It was one of his last bullets, but it ties together the other attempts of wooing the state legislators and claiming fraud over and over in GA in particular.
