This needs to be codified by congress so it doesn't get changed when parties change in the White House. Goes for a bunch of other things now being reversed again.

Our congress, even when it's functional, doesn't do that anymore and hasn't for decades. Cowardly politicians, in an effort to preserve their incumbency, are more comfortable to punt questions like this to the Supreme Court. Maybe the current makeup of the court might create an atmosphere where that is no longer the case for some, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

There are costs associated with every type of military person. This just adds more cost. Kind of irrelevant really, except when one side has bitched for years about how bloated our military budget is. Decisions like this only increase the cost. Like with a side bitching about jobs all the time and then on the first day in office signs orders that eliminate jobs.

Or we could buy 1 less 2 billion dollar jet that will never be used and cover all the costs immediately.

#5 If the DOD spends $2 billions less this year, their budget will be $2 billion less next year. Can't have that. So many lobbyists and shareholders need to be supported.
