Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell excoriated former President Trump Saturday in a speech on the Senate floor shortly after McConnell voted to acquit in the former president's second impeachment trial.

Technically, the Senators found that Trump was guilty. It only took 51 votes for that. They just didn't have enough votes to convict him based on the Article of Impeachment, which at this point was all but irrelevant since Trump had already left office. The only thing that would have been gained by a getting a conviction would have been the opportunity to then disqualify Trump from holding any future office. However, I suspect that he will never run again. Besides, there are several potential criminal cases that could be pursued against Trump and if he's convicted of a felony, this would disallow him from appearing on the ballots in at least a few states, so I doubt if Trump will run again.

I listened to McConnell's speech.

There are very few people who reach the status whereby their death actually improves the world.

That POS is definitely in that elite group.

Stop listening to anything McConnell says.

Stop thinking he means what he's saying.

When will anyone learn?

McConnell is going to lead the senate around like blind mice until 22 when he hopes to regain the senate.

McConell is the lowest lifeform, anyone that expects better from him is just plain stupid. I could make a longer post about him but he is not worth the time. Everyone who comes here knows what a piece of filth he is, my question is, are there any McConnell supporters left among us?

"McConnell is going to lead the senate around like blind mice until 22 when he hopes to regain the senate."

He depends on the unlimited stupidity of American voters. I don't know, in the past his expectations were correct. You simply can't underestimate the stupidity of the American voter.

The Republican Party is led by cowards, people who see the fascism, who watched it bully its way into the Senate Chamber itself, and still, they use their mealymouthed tactics to try to play both sides against the middle. America is screwed, for now fascism has a name, Trumpism, and it has a champion, the Republican Party, and it knows it does't have to fear the legal system.
The bullies will be out in force, rallying to the sound of hate and racism.
I wonder who they will kill next.

Mitch McConnell biggest hypocrite in American politics

Refuses to hold impeachment trial while Trump in office & then acquits b/c not in office

Blocks Merrick Garland 237 days before election but confirms Amy Coney Barrett 8 days before election when 65 million already voted

McConnell Says Trump Was 'Responsible' for Riot After Voting Not Guilty

Many of those republican senators are a bunch of cowards. They, like McConnell, knew that what Trump did was impeachable but they could not find the courage to convict. They are hoping that the legal system will do the job that they refused to do. They are hoping that Trump will be so tarnished by criminal and civil legal proceedings that his odds of winning the GOP presidential nomination in 2024 is miniscule.

Dems aren't much better. After winning the right to call witnesses, what do they do? DON'T CALL WITNESSES! Kevin McCarthy should have been called and asked to confirm/deny the sworn affidavit of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler. Had McCarthy denied the call, others would witnesses to the call would have been brought in to get at the truth. If McCarthy lied, his goose would have been cooked. If he told the truth, there is a good chance that more GOP senators would have voted to convict; maybe even 17.

It is tough supporting democrats. They are a bunch of wussies. About the best thing they have going for them is that they are not republicans. Dems don't seem to know how to throw a knock out punch.

That wouldn't have been quick or easy:

Plaskett: There were no other witnesses that were friendly to us, and would have required subpoenas and litigation.

If this is true, it's probably because she got even more death threats:

Nicolle Wallace for the win. She just said she has sources that talked to her & said: The House Impeachment managers witnesses who they wanted, including the GOP rep Jaime Herrera Butler who released details of the Trump McCarthy call, went cold & refused to commit to testify.

If legislators are basing their votes on whether or not they get death threats, they are in the wrong business. They need to resign and let someone with courage serve.

He's responsible, but it would be giving in to Cancel Culture for the GOP to hold him accountable.

So much winning!

That's strange, your last two posts have a sexual overtone. I didn't attack you or anyone here. Seems strange that personal attacks aren't moderated here - especially the ones with sexual overtones.

Face it, you can't win an argument so you fly straight into attack mode. You're an internet cowboy but all you really have is some cap guns.

Lady G is all verklempt again, clutching his pearls.....

WASHINGTON " Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Sunday he thought Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's speech blasting former President Donald Trump would be used against Republicans in campaign ads in 2022 when the party fights to reclaim the Senate.

"They did this because they had been fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on earth because he was angry he had lost an election," McConnell said. "Former President Trump's actions preceded the right for a disgraceful dereliction of duty."

McConnell, in a roughly 20-minute floor speech, said Trump's "crescendo of conspiracy theories" caused the Jan. 6 Capitol riots for which he was "practically and morally responsible."

"They did this because they had been fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on earth because he was angry he had lost an election," McConnell said. "Former President Trump's actions preceded the right for a disgraceful dereliction of duty."

"He got a load off his chest, obviously, but unfortunately he put a load on the back of Republicans," Graham said. "That speech you will see in 2022 campaigns."

It should be plainly obvious now to anyone with ears and eyes that the GOP (or whatever is left of it), will DO BLOODY ANYTHING to hold onto
whatever power the American Electorate is STUPID ENOUGH to hand them.

They are simply the POLITICAL ----- of
the modern world...

anything for power & money...

One of these days Mitch could keel over from a heart attack, aneurysm, kidney stone, gunshot or a number of other causes. Many around him will just step around or over him on their way to the rest of their lives. A helluva way to go...
