Viewers are greeted with the disclaimer: 'This programme includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now.

Some fans of the series created by puppeteer Jim Henson are not happy with the censorship, with one tweeting: 'It's so frustrating to live in a 'free' country where corporations can decide what you can and can't watch.'

Other family films to carry the warning include The Aristocats, Dumbo, Peter Pan and Swiss Family Robinson.

When I watch many of the old TV shows, I see a lot of content that is now considered to be offensive.

I view it as a viewport into what the world was like when the TV show was made, and look at how far we've come since then.

And how far we still need to go.

Since when is a disclaimer censorship?

@#3 ... Since when is a disclaimer censorship? ...

It is not censorship.

I don't understand why some people think it is?

Because the unfortunate norm is to have a victim complex.

Too many people seem to be looking for reasons to be offended and wronged, even if they're not wrong at all.

Disclaimers are just the beginning, soon, like the Confederate memorials, etc, these shows and films will be purged and disappear down the memory hole. The past is being systematically and carefully erased. Older ways of thinking and feeling are just not "woke" enough for modern sensibilities.

Whether or not this is viewed as a bad thing comes down to individual preference, but the trend is undeniable.

@#7 ... ,soon, like the Confederate memorials, etc, these shows and films will be purged and disappear down the memory hole. ...

There's a difference between the shows and the Confederate monuments.

The shows are entertainment.

The monuments are, well, monuments, to enemies of the Untied States, and were erected to be symbolic of the segregation of the Jim Crow era.

There have been disclaimers for movies and tv shows for decades now.

May contain graphic violence, strong language and nudity

Me: "Awesome."

Erasing what we hate is not helpful. Monuments to racism and secession are one thing, but the tendency is to erase anything that makes anyone uncomfortable. This make Me uncomfortable.

Where does it stop? Lincoln wasn't perfect, erase him from history? Washington wasn't perfect, here's got to go? Jefferson, fuggetaboutit, he's gone! Nothing good comes from this.

I agree that secessionists and slavers should not be memorialized. But Lincoln? Washington?

Life was different then. We can't hold dead men to modern standards. For one thing they can't defend themselves, for another the whole society is different now.

Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.

I disagree with the appellation that is often put on the removal of Confederate monuments.

It is not erasing history, quite the contrary, it is respecting history.

"Erasing what we hate is not helpful."

Why not?

I don't hate statues of Civil War generals.

I hate what they stand for, which is slavery and White Supremacy.

What in the muppets was racist? Were they faking a bad or stereotyping an "oriental" accent?

Can you find me the original paper from 1974 where "white privilege" came from? I can find thousands of documents talking about it, but I can't find the paper itself. It's supposed to be a list of about fifty or so assertions, maybe a page long?

"Can you find me the original paper from 1974 where "white privilege" came from?"

That paper is hard to find these days.

Your best bet finding it is to steal it from a Fake Jew.

What in the muppets was racist?

The headline and article are exaggerating to inflame readers.

Here's the actual disclaimer: "This programme includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures. These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now."

Though. I watched a few episodes last night and didn't notice a disclaimer.

Not sure where they put it. Maybe I wasn't paying attention.

I'll check tonight.

Fake nose it is then. I assume all the other Fake Jews wear them. I know some pot dealers, they can find you anything. Pot is a gateway because it's illegal, so pot dealers know everyone. Also, I suspect some may be Jewish....

Indeed:

Viewed from the genuine abolition ground, Mr. Lincoln seemed tardy, cold, dull, and indifferent; but measuring him by the sentiment of his country, a sentiment he was bound as a statesman to consult, he was swift, zealous, radical, and determined.

Frederick Douglass, Oration in Memory of Abraham Lincoln

You can read more excerpts from his speech here:

I have said that President Lincoln was a white man, and shared the prejudices common to his countrymen towards the colored race. Looking back to his times and to the condition of his country, we are compelled to admit that this unfriendly feeling on his part may be safely set down as one element of his wonderful success in organizing the loyal American people for the tremendous conflict before them, and bringing them safely through that conflict. His great mission was to accomplish two things: first, to save his country from dismemberment and ruin; and, second, to free his country from the great crime of slavery. To do one or the other, or both, he must have the earnest sympathy and the powerful cooperation of his loyal fellow-countrymen.

Without this primary and essential condition to success his efforts must have been vain and utterly fruitless.

I don't think we're going to cancel Thomas Jefferson.

But we have mostly cancelled the fact that he took a slave girl for his concubine.

That wasn't even looked on favorably in TJ's era. No need to rely on our modern-day thinking for that one.

#20 Did you hear that from the same people that wrote "The Real Lincoln"?

The left loved that book. Lincoln was a racist.

Except it was written by the White Citizens Committee of Georgia.

#21 | Posted by HeliumRat at 2021-02-22 08:14 PM | Reply

Lincoln caused at least 600,000 deaths. More than the coronavirus so far. The civil war was an illegal powergrab by the northern abolitionists. The constitution allowed sessession in it's text. The constitution allowed SLAVERY IN IT'S TEXT.The country at large would have been better off if the southern states had been let go to find their own way.

The blacks and the northern industrialists were the real winners,of that conflict.

The war was as much about markets and the Fetish of an Inviolable Union as human freedom.

Lincoln was a war criminal..in modern times it would be cause for Regime change if it happened overseas. LOL.

#25 Was it on a microfiche in only one university in the world like the Smallpox Blanket story? So many people believed that one they made a South Park episode out of it. "Arming America" is another good book based entirely on faked authentic documents. It claimed American's never really owned guns until the NRA made up gun culture. No, seriously. They had the documents to prove it! All from San Francisco in the 1800's. Documents of every legal firearm purchase or inheritance in San Francisco because - get this - it was required by gun control laws. It was awesome. People believed it. When asked to produce the documents they couldn't, of course - all public records had been destroyed in the Great Fire.

No, it was on the Internet when a right-winger populist was quoting from Jefferson, without realizing that what she was quoting was Jefferson lying about his concubine.

#29 I'm sure "there where [...] good people on both sides". Can you find the video for me?

(I'll never forget that one. People still believe it. After four years. All you have to do is use youtube. It's like the Pocahontas thing: there are three ancestry sites that will let you back 300 years on anyone for free. Same answer from all three. And not a single journalist even bothered to check. Or maybe they did, but they knew they would get fired like those guys when the Intercept got bought out if they did, so they stayed quite to keep their jobs).

*My bad, it's "There where good people [...] on both sides". The "[...]" is about a paragraph long and golds the complete opposite meaning to what the media sold the woke.

You guys are so gullible. Just watch the video.

I watched L'Enfants du Paradis earlier today. I'm sure a lot of scenes would not go down well with the fake-woke crowd today, especially the ones with an actor playing Othello.

I have also heard consistent rumors the Thomas Jefferson wasn't a racist. But that's impossible. He was white, and Critical Race Theory tells us that all white people are racist. Like the ones that ran the Underground Railroad, or those guys in Bleeding Kansas.

Why is it the woke use the same terms they use clinically in autism, like "triggered" and "safe space"?

#38 You watched that. The whole thing. And you think that makes Trump a racist??? Even though it was the edited one they showed in Congress during the impeachment trial with the middle [paragraph pulled out between the words and and got censured for?

Also, that's not the original interview. They where referencing the original interview. They say that when asking questions. Now play the original one.

Hint: you have to try the AP newswire. The neo-racist woke monopomedia has posted nothing but lies for the last 4 years. Mueller proved that. Don't post their crap as proof of anything.
