Last month, veteran political attorney Cleta Mitchell was forced to resign as a partner at the prominent Washington-based firm Foley & Lardner after it became clear she had secretly aided former President Trump's efforts to overturn the election results, in violation of the firm's policy.

I cannot imagine how much money this one phone call just cost her.

As it should be, Dotard IS the swamp, and everything he touches dies!

Gee, I hope Foley & Lardner don't expect Trump to pay them for her billing hours.

Come to think of it, maybe all the time and effort she spent with Trump didn't even show up on their books as billing hours.

That's something that would certainly infuriate the partners.

Too bad, lady. You were picked for your 'flexibility at law'. I guess your other option was to hang up the phone and leave the room when you heard how the call was going. Lawyers have ethical obligations. Listening in while your client attempts to or actually commits a crime is no way to build a resume of legal achievements. Just another dummy from Okiehomie--that sort of stupid doesn't wash off...

I don't see where anybody's career has been destroyed.

This dirtbag will die rich.

Unbilled hours? Sure seems this billing time should be listed as a Political Contribution to the Tchrump Campaign, right?

Most law firms take a dim view of their associates committing treason.

"I don't see where anybody's career has been destroyed."

Here's how.

Bruce Cutler (John Gotti, Sr. lawyer) got disbarred for just attending a meeting where the commission of a crime was being discussed. His voice was heard on tape which made him a co-conspirator.

This is worse. By speaking, Cleta Mitchell actually made herself part of the crime in progress. Like CATDOG said, lawyers have ethical obligations. They're officers of the court. Any lawyer knows. She should have left the room immediately and quit Trump as a client . . . on the spot.

Foley & Lardner did right in cutting her loose. Now they're worried about how deeply she might have dragged the firm into her seditious activities and if she put them in a position where they might have to defend their their own license to practice law.

It's a sticky wicket.

"Unbilled hours? Sure seems this billing time should be listed as a Political Contribution to the Tchrump Campaign, right?"

Only if she was working Pro bono for Trump. But that doesn't get her off the hook for participating in a crime.

She'll never be convicted of a crime. It would only take one R on the jury to get her off. Disbarment is probably not any more likely.

Remember when Obama destroyed lawyers just by being black?

Yeah.. both parties are obviously the same.
