Donald Trump will reportedly tell the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida this week he is Republicans' "presumptive 2024 nominee" for president. Trump will address CPAC on Sunday, his subject the future of the party he took over in the 2016 primary then led from the White House through four tumultuous years. On Monday, citing anonymous sources, the news site Axios reported his plan to assume the mantle of challenger to Joe Biden " or another Democrat, should the 78-year-old president decide not to run for a second term. An unnamed "longtime adviser" was quoted as saying Trump's speech to the rightwing event will be a "show of force" with the message: "I may not have Twitter or the Oval Office, but I'm still in charge."

The GOP, if they really want a Trump in 2020, are going to need to choose one who is not in advanced dementia and/or in prison.

In regards to demented crime lords, the Chicago Mob made a big deal of seeming to consult Al Capone about business, all the while knowing that syphilis had reduced his brain to cheese.

I'm sure that Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz would be tickled to do the same.

For now, fmr Pres Trump is the presumptive Republican candidate in 2024.

What's his approval rating among Republicans? Something like 85 or 90%?

Within Republican primaries, who is going to beat him?

The problem for Republicans, however, begins when their 2024 candidate needs to draw the votes needed to win from beyond the Republican Party.

But that's in 2024, a long ways away from "for now."

The question that lingers, like the fragrance of a bottom burp...

Will the Republicans put up a candidate in 2024 that the Republican base likes with a 85 to 90% approval, or will the Republicans put up a candidate that can win the needed independent votes?

If the Dems screw the pooch on Covid,Trump could run again and win like Grover Cleveland. America is that stupid, believe it.

"I am the presumptive nominee" = I'm not running, but I am going to milk these dummies for all the donations to my election fund I can for four years.

He has tapped a major vein of stupid rednecks that will send him money.
