According to reporting in The Guardian, more than 6,500 migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have died in Qatar since it won the right to host the World Cup 10 years ago. They were the labor behind an expansive building scheme that includes seven soccer stadia, roads, a new airport, hotels, transportation systems and a new city that will host the World Cup Final.

The sooner the world gets off the black goo as an energy source the sooner we can relegate these awful people to the dust bin of history.

It's always easy to point at other "awful people" in the world in order to help excuse the awfulness of the actions of your own.

So you can't say slavery is bad, unless you live in a country without any flaws?

That was always trump's strategy. Point out his crimes, and he'll simply say "whatabout THOSE crimes over there?"

The notion of holding the World Cup in Qatar in the first place is insane. Even in September the temperatures are sweltering. In August they are well above 100 degrees every day. This is first and last a money deal for those in charge of this charade. I predict it will be the worst World Cup ever.

It certainly will be the most under-attended. Running in 120 degrees for 90 minutes is torture, not sport.

Even Formula One only races in the ME at night.

This has always been a bad idea, and only seems like it could have ever come about due to bribery.

A real challenge for events like World Cup and The Olympics is that most of the developing world works on bribes. How do you expand your global reach when the only way to expand your global reach is Pay to Play?

I remember criticizing FIFA on Twitter ten years ago because of Qatar's poor migrant labor record. Still, I would have never imagined it'd be over 6,500 dead before the tournament even starts.

Except that I'm saying "whatabout THESE crimes over HERE?" to the previous poster. So sorry you completely
missed that.

In other words, take care of your own "awful" people before you start trying to pointing fingers elsewhere.

But you obviously didn't get that in your rush to interject Trump into the conversation.

By the way, Trump is currently living in Florida and is a free man. As long as that's the case I see the people of America as slightly more "awful" than those Nixon was disparaging.

The people of america think he should be prosecuted for his crimes.

Republican cheating is the reason he's a free man.

So these cheating Republicans aren't also "people of America"?

If they aren't, perhaps they need to be bombed. That's what the "people of America" do best...

We're talking about majorities, aren't we?

And Yes, actually, if we believe in defending our democracy with our military, then that's what we should do.

No chance. If hasn't been tried over the past 50 years there is no reason to expect it to happen now. Plus, it's easier and far more profitable to blame a Middle Eastern or east Asian country.

United States should boycott this disaster.

"The sooner the world gets off the black goo as an energy source the sooner we can relegate these awful people to the dust bin of history."

The United States is perfectly capable of producing all the oil we need.

When you call these people "migrant workers" is a lie. They are brought into Qatar, their passports are taken and they are forced to earn them back for slave wages.

n August they are well above 100 degrees every day. This is first and last a money deal for those in charge of this charade.

But, its a dry heat.

So you're saying that money in sports is a corrupting influence. I for one am shocked.

We haven't had a fascist insurrection in 50 years. The last time we had one, we had the balls to go to war over it.

Speak loudly Speaksoftly! After jan. 6 everything has changed. Those who don't recognize that are just willingly ignoring the truth. It will end up biting them in the ass! We need to take this seriously. Our nation is under attack.
