There's a Republican majority of the Court now and they know that voting restrictions are the only way Rs can stay in power.

This kind of voter suppression is what Boaz voted for.
Just ask him, he'll crow about it.
Surprised he's not here taking a victory lap!

"What's the interest of the Arizona RNC in keeping, say, the out-of-precinct ballot disqualification rules on the books?" Justice Amy Coney Barrett asked, referencing legal standing.

"Because it puts us at a competitive disadvantage relative to Democrats," said Michael Carvin, the lawyer defending the state's restrictions. "Politics is a zero-sum game. And every extra vote they get through unlawful interpretation of Section 2 hurts us, it's the difference between winning an election 50-49 and losing an election 51 to 50."

Jim Crow 2.0, or maybe that's 4.0...

Red States, conservatives, and evangelicals,
not liking that they can no longer 'Control the Vote'
in this country, making damned well sure that they
control the vote in this country...even if it's illegal...

The GOP doesn't want America,
they want Apartheid South Africa...

While the Democrats are doing nothing.

The Republicans are making sure they win in 22 and 24.

And before you pretend Democrats can't do anything. They currently have congress and the executive branch.

Plus Republican Senators, at the trial of Donald Trump, said the President can do anything in order to win an election.

Seems like Democrats have permission to actually do something in order to secure wins.

Not that they will.

Biden is too busy bombing Syria and trying to be a world leader when he can't even lead America.

Can you challenge the Supreme Court?

Actual question.

If the Supreme Court rules on something. Can it be challenged?

Aren't they the highest court? End of all discussion?

Do you appeal?

#10 | Posted by ClownShack at 2021-03-03 04:19 PM | Reply

Can it be challenged?

It can. You just stack the court with different judges and then hear a similar case and rule the other way.

Will take about 40 years.

Yea...you are correct.

Absentee ballots need to be tightly controlled and voting through the mail abolished.

Weekend early voting needs standardized among all states.

Why does voting by mail need to be abolished? Has there been any problems demonstrated, besides making it harder for the cheating side to win?

Speak,

"Why does voting by mail need to be abolished?"

My reason is...well...no other reason than I believe it needs abolished based on my gut feelings of human nature, the lack of integrity I see within political parties (both), my intimate knowledge of information systems and the general nature of things to go to h*** when you least expect it and there is no do over in voting and lastly the fact this is voting for the President of the United States of America.

FTA:

The Biden administration, too, told the justices in an unusual letter two weeks ago that the Arizona measures appeared to be lawful. But the letter disavowed the Trump administration's position that the relevant section of the Voting Rights Act should not be widely used to keep states from enacting more restrictive voting procedures.

The court did not seem receptive to a rigorous test proposed by Mr. Carvin, the lawyer for the Arizona Republican Party, who said that ordinary election regulations are not subject to challenges under Section 2. Most justices appeared to accept that regulations that place substantial burdens on minority voters could run afoul of the law.

And there it is. A bunch of liars lie to you about voting by mail, and give you a "feeling" about it. You're willing to put this FEELING above facts and statistics, and make america less democratic because of your FEELING. And you think a youtube video and it's comments are "doing research".

Like what? Put your money where your mouth is, use it for something other than hollow bitching and tell us what they should do.

Please include how it would fit into the current legal environment where Congress has zero control over how states run their elections and the courts are loathe to insert themselves into that state function.

Thanks!

The feds aren't supposed to regulate elections, that's up to the states. The courts would likely rule against intrusions by the feds into state processes.

Elie Mystal
@ElieNYC

* Dems win power.
* Moderate Dems refuse to let Dems use power.
* Dems lose power.
* Moderate Dems blame progressives for being too radical.
* ad infinitum

We are at step 2 of the cycle.

Moderate are just as responsible for America becoming fascist as conservatives.

There's also all the moderates (they're here on the DR) who can't bash liberals or progressives enough.

Go check out the DR Seuss threads to see how many moderates attacked liberals because they thought it had something to do with "SJWs".

Took a while to get them to stop hyperventilating long enough to actually get all the facts and recognize it's been conservatives overreacting the entire time.

There was a lot of knee-jerk reacting in that thread, but I didn't think everyone on the left who was reacting that way was a moderate.
