Elvia DÃaz: Forget the $15-an-hour minimum wage or immigration and election reform. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema apparently wants the little people to eat cake instead.

Minimum wage:

Telling someone that if the value of their labor is less than the mandated minimum wage, they're not going to be allowed legal employment.

#3 | Posted by madbomber at 2021-03-06 10:57 AM | Reply

And what's the problem with that, exactly?

They can always go live in the woods, you keep telling us.

#4 | Posted by snoofy at 2021-03-06 11:44 AM | Reply

Minimum wage is the bosses way of telling you that if they could pay you less they would.

I get y three other Senators who normally vote with the Democrats voted this way but her voting this way completely came out of left field until I remembered she's nuts.

#6 | Posted by Tor at 2021-03-06 04:23 PM | Reply

You guys never heard of her before this. She wants to keep issues separate. She's quietly worked for Arizonans for a long time even though she's blue. And she's pretty.

#7 | Posted by bruceaz at 2021-03-06 04:44 PM | Reply

I knew she was crazy for a long time but I've kept my mouth shut because the Republicans always had somebody for her run against who was a thousand times worse.

I tried to convince myself that I was just being a judgemental ----- and that she would do just fine and that I needed to be more open-minded.

Apparently I should have bombarded the internet with warnings about how nuts she was when she was first nominated to run for the house seat.

#8 | Posted by Tor at 2021-03-06 04:56 PM | Reply

TOR you judgemental -----. She was from my district. She's quietly worked behind the scenes for us.

You know a commie leftist in AZ would be considered a rightie in anywhere else.

And she is pretty.

Are you in AZ TOR, if so where.

#9 | Posted by bruceaz at 2021-03-06 05:07 PM | Reply

She's a damn liar who claims she grew up without electricity or running water.

She threw her own parents under the bus to get ahead.

And if Arizona is so stupid and conservative how is it that Mark Kelley Joe Biden and Kamila Harris got elected?

Pretty sure that's two fold.

Native American voters and the fallout of McCain vs Trump.

How did Doug Ducey get elected?

Do you live here or not.

Or as Boaz would say, none of your business

#12 | Posted by bruceaz at 2021-03-06 05:27 PM | Reply

#11 well maybe, Sinema quietly did her job working for Arizonans and we appreciated it. Mark Kelly will do the same I hope.

"Native American voters and the fallout of McCain vs Trump."

They are that large of a voting block?

#14 | Posted by Tor at 2021-03-06 05:32 PM | Reply

Is there a GOP house minority leader?

The GOP are incapable of accomplishing anything of value.

#15 | Posted by bored at 2021-03-06 05:34 PM | Reply

#11 native Americans, yeah they do need representation and their vote is important but get real.

I read an article that credited native Americans with helping push Arizona blue.

"I read an article that credited native Americans with helping push Arizona blue."

Even if all the AZ Native who could vote did and they all voted for Biden there was more going on.

.....It's possible Trump's hate for McCain cost him but Kelley also got elected.

#18 Arizona has been purplish for decades. Goldwater was a local hero. But our native American problem was solved in Oklahoma. Sorry folks.

Of course they helped but definitely a minority

The Kelly, McSally duel was one of the worst things I ever saw in my life. Both military heroes, but McSally should have wiped her chin.

#21 | Posted by bruceaz at 2021-03-06 05:50 PM | Reply

If AZ can vote for Mark Kelley it can do better than Senator crazy pants.

#22 | Posted by Tor at 2021-03-06 05:51 PM | Reply

Oh shut up TOR, for a minute I thought you lived here. What's an Arizonan, you foreigners are moving here by the minute.

I'm with Tor on this one. What's up with that hair?!?

This vote makes no sense to me, it was a gimme for her to vote in favor; it wasn't going to pass, and more importantly, it would not have raised the AZ minimum wage for at least three years. And then to do it in such a stupidly dramatic fashion, she'll be lucky if a Latina Dem who is slightly to her left doesn't primary her. People who knew McCain say he would have voted to raise the minimum wage. So politically tone deaf.

People who knew McCain, right when your dead you turn into Saint John, didn't hate him but let's get real.

#29 yes that was cool and honorable. But he had a 40 year political career after that, like I said I didn't hate him.
