Republican mayors in Texas, Arizona, Florida and Oklahoma are among those backing Biden's state and local government funding plan as part of the $1.9 trillion coronavirus aid bill that's before the Senate, defying GOP lawmakers in Washington, who are broadly resisting the spending. "In a crisis and an emergency, you check partisanship at the door, and you get through the crisis," said John Giles, the Republican mayor of Mesa, Ariz. "You can get back to playing politics when the crisis is over. And so this is one of those times."

"It would be a dereliction of duty for me not to try to fight for $116 million that would allow us to restore our police, fire and other core services," said Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, a Republican.

Admirable sentiment on the part of Mayor Giles.

I wonder how long before Trump's RNC provides a challenger for his next re-election?

It's the states' money anyway. Only an idiot doesn't take help when his house is burning down. Yes, even the most recalcitrant Republican would eventually go back in after the conflagration to bring out his dinner.

All those states are net takers from Washington to start with.

Why did anyone think this time would be different?

BTW how many of your Trumpterds gonna send your $1400 Biden checks back?

Probably the same amount as Dems who refused to be advantaged by Trump's tax cuts. And, before you partisanly and blindly say none benefited, remember that California and New York are filled with rich Dems and Liberals vehemently made sure the country knew that the tax cuts only benefited the rich (which wasn't true of course, but arguing reality with people who refuse to accept it is pointless).

Also, let's not forget the Democratic politicians who opposed the relief bill. I mean, if we are going to cherry pick a few outliers to try to spread partisan hate, let's do it on both side. You know, fairness and all.

Alas, those are the same people who got hit with the elimination of the SALT deduction.
To the cheers of Republicans everywhere. Though I'm not sure how many Republicans in California were cheering.

I saw the term

Biden Republican

emerge over the weekend. Context is the same as this term:

Reagan Democrat

Most of the previous stimulus money we received went to the the local food banks, the homeless shelter, the animal shelters, a local non-profit preforming arts center, and a local non-profit economic development organization.

I hope the Trumpers that can afford it are similarly benevolent.

Well I would have loved to not "benefit" from the "cuts" because my taxes went up under the tax scam as did many middle class and upper middle class in NY and CA.

Is there a way I can "not benefit" from them?

Please do share your expertise.

For example, Donald Trump lives in New York City.
