That's what they're going with as the reason?

Really?

That?!?!?

Cop: Your Honor, I was kneeling on this ---, uh, gentleman's neck, minding my own business when a mob of bystanders distracted me.

Judge: How did they distract you?

Cop: They were telling me the ---, uh, gentleman could not breath because I was kneeling on his neck. Those 9 minutes flew by.

"That's what they're going with as the reason?"

The defense lawyers need to argue something for their clients. Given what they have to work with, this might be their best shot to argue extenuating circumstances.

All the defense needs is one R like #8 and the cop skates with a hung jury.

Considering cops have been using the same position to subdue criminals for many decades and barely any deaths, I'd say it's incredibly logical to presume that there could have been external circumstances. Maybe, maybe not. But what intelligent people SHOULDN'T do is immediately dismiss the idea and start mocking the very logic of it even though it is sound. Combine that with the fact it was video taped and external circumstances were present, well...only dumb people with no critical thinking ability could then immediately dismiss it and mock it. Dems like science and truth. Well, there you go. Why don't you start actually being consistent about it.

You contradict yourself.

If the police have been using that same position for many decades to subdue criminals, then they should know exactly what effects it has and that they should not allow themselves to be so easily distracted. And if they find themselves being distracted, they should stop doing it.

As you imply, the police are professionals at this, they know what they are doing.

If Chauvin and his fellow kkkops walk, then look for a VERY bad summer in Minneapolis.

Frank Zappa wrote a great song about when Watts burned down in 1966, "Trouble Every Day.".

This is exactly why cops are rarely convicted.

Also why Donald Trump will never be convicted in a jury trial BTW.

"Despite allegations that "criminal elements" were responsible for the riots, the vast majority of those arrested had no prior criminal record.[6] Only three sworn personnel were killed in the riots: an LAFD firefighter was struck when a wall of a fire-weakened structure fell on him while fighting fires in a store,[38] an LASD deputy was shot when another deputy's shotgun was discharged in a struggle with rioters,[39] and an LBPD officer was shot by another police officer's gun that was discharged during a scuffle with rioters.[40] 23 out of the 34 people killed in the riots were shot by LAPD officers or National Guardsmen.[41] According to The Encyclopedia of African American History, "What is often called a riot could also be called "social protest, revolt, or rebellion", "as a revolt against deeply encrusted forms of bias".[42]"

...9 minutes...They kneeled on his neck for 9 minutes.

Cops haven't been kneeling on people's necks for 9 minutes for decades.

The real irony here is, if this were anyone other than a cop, the crowd wouldn't have pleaded or yelled, they would have attacked to prevent a murder.

The look on Chauvin's face doesn't look like fear or distraction to me. It looks like someone saying there is nothing anyone can do to stop me from doing as I please to this guy.

Even if we were to assume George Floyd's death was due to drugs or CoViD or whatever the defense is trying to claim, the police had a responsibility to call in medical support, not continue to keep him in a choke hold. There is exactly zero chance Chauvin's actions weren't the proximate cause of death. But for Chauvin's actions, George Floyd doesn't die that day.

An attorney in a high profile murder trial actually said his client who was kneeling on someone's neck for 9 minutes was "caring" for someone.

I didn't realize that Barnum & Bailey Clown College had a law degree program.
