Volkswagen accidentally posted a press release on its website a month early on Monday announcing a new name for its U.S. operations, Voltswagen of America, emphasizing the German automaker's electric vehicle efforts.

There's a VW pickup truck that drives around Seattle, a homebrew electric conversion. Anyway, the tailgate reads Voltswagen. I emailed the guy one day, his fuel cost is pennies on the dollar compared to gasoline.

also, from BMW...

"Modular vehicle architectures have become the norm in the automotive industry, but BMW will take flexibility to a new level by putting a vast majority of its battery- and piston-powered cars on the same platform during the 2020s. It announced its upcoming Neue Klasse architecture will ultimately replace the UKL and CLAR units it currently uses."

There used to be one in Naples than ran on used cooking grease... there's nothing like the smell of old french fries while stuck in traffic.

I'm telling you guys, technology is going to end global warming faster than you think. In fact, in the future excess CO2 will problably be sold like nuclear waste is now for green nuclear batteries. So smoke up now.

Thorium in 10 years.
Fusion in five, possibly including a compact portable device.
Son of Superbattery is already here and entering production in at least three nations.
Wind is 0.9 to 0.7 coal cost. And about to get perfected with weird giant towers.
The grid-flow battery. It's so close we can taste it.

Al Gore died for you.

"Accidentally," or an intentional ~error~ to get more PR coverage?

I am waiting for a cheap low speed heavy load EV truck for doing construction and landscaping work when I retire.
I might have to do a conversion on a 350 with a blown engine.

I would consider an EV RV as well. Slow road trips for low cost would be great in retirement.

Looks like it may be real...

VW changing to Voltswagen -- early April fool or corporate rebranding? [Updated]

...Update, 8:11am: Apparently it's real.

"We might be changing out our K for a T, but what we aren't changing is this brand's commitment to making best-in-class vehicles for drivers and people everywhere," said Scott Keogh, president and CEO of Voltswagen of America in a press release. "The idea of a 'people's car' is the very fabric of our being. We have said, from the beginning of our shift to an electric future, that we will build EVs for the millions, not just millionaires. This name change signifies a nod to our past as the peoples' car and our firm belief that our future is in being the peoples' electric car," Keogh said....

Volkswagen played the media like a pro, got the fact that they're coming out with a line of electric cars into news coverage by just dropping a fake name. Brilliant!
