It is hard to qualify for Medicaid as an adult in Missouri. Childless adults aren't eligible for coverage through the state's program -- dubbed MO HealthNet -- at all, and parents can't make more than 21% of the federal poverty level: $5,400 in 2021 for a family of three. That was all set to change on July 1 because of a constitutional amendment voters approved last summer that made Missouri the 38th state to expand Medicaid coverage through the Affordable Care Act.

Why do Republican politicians hate their voters?

I think it's time for MO voters to rise up and take back their government! FREE MISSOURI! Seriously, this is beyond criminal, THE CITIZENS VOTED TO CHANGE THEIR CONSTITUTION AND EXPAND MEDICARE, THE GQP HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO FUND IT! The GQP is the party of pants ------- and victims. They apparently accept ANY loss at the ballot box, they don't believe in democracy, the are now the party of autocracy, one-person-one-vote and free and fair elections mean NOTHING to them anymore.

Rs are afraid that someone who "doesn't deserve health care" will get it anyway. Constitutions are for wimps.

Sorry, Medicaid, not Medicare.

One thng I learned this year is that succession mandates lost in many Southern states before the Civil War but the governors did it anyway.

...because the GOP hate poor people,
and disadvantaged people, and black people,
and brown people, and non-affluent people...
Oh hell, everybody but white people! Period.

Just another day of the GOP trampling the democratic process to support their 1% agenda.

So what? What are the voters going to do? Vote for Democrats? Our jobs are as safe as milk...

No, just rich white men. They're the ones who make bribes, excuse me, I mean campaign contributions.

TFD, that's an important historical point, and I will admit I was unaware of it before your post. Very important point. I have always wondered why the poor whites were willing to fight and die for the rights of rich white plantation owners to own slaves which just undermined the wages for the poor whites. I think it is related to the southern states objections to education. And I have studied southern history enough to know that, yes, the powerful white aristocracy in the South fought against education for 200 years and, in some places, still are.
An educated electorate is their enemy.
