There goes their status as a no-income tax state. After all, when you cut off the state from the federal -----, how are they going to survive?

Secede to where? A no-man's land of empty space and armadillos?

Wait ~ maybe they can apply for foreign aid.

After all the federal help and help from other states that texts received when that snow storm hit in their power grid crap down they have the nerve to talk about leaving the Union?

Texas cannot secede. If it were tried, the President would have no choice but to send in the 101st Airborne Division, arrest the perpetrators at the state capitol, and if they resisted, the US Army would kill everything in sight.

This was an NPR piece a few years ago.

Kinda makes that insurrectionist ------ droop a little, doesn't it?

It's 89% sales tax, 11% property tax generated. Aside for those, in this completely-hypothetical, never-happening-scenario, they would levy tariffs on exports to the US for petroleum, nat gas, chemicals, and machinery which would cover Federal spending to the state.

Most likely the US would invade, as Texas produces 24% of US natural gas and nobody really wants the yankee states to freeze to death. We just experimented with that on ourselves and it wasn't good.

"It's 89% sales tax, 11% property tax generated."

Wow.

Those percentages sure go up when you cut out the Fed largesse from the equation, don't they?

From the Texas Legislature:
State and local governments in Texas bring in 35.4 percent of their total revenue from the sales tax

So if your claim is correct, over half the state's budget would have to come from the Feds, and sales taxes would have to be more than doubled to recompense.

#7 You are assuming the US-1 would continue to buy those things from Texass.

AOC's Green New Deal would get a huge boost.

Fed's used to be 32%. Not sure with all the natural and man made disasters at this point. Yes, if that tiny minority of dumbasses got their way taxes would have to go way up to support their secession. Though it would probably look more like a Brexit nowadays, still a bad deal.

Very optimistic of you, Texas will happily sell the wind generated energy, even if it means we sit in the cold lol.

Isn't Alan West a Florida dbag?

If the federal government moved all of the military bases out of Texas then Texas would be broke. That's a fact, Texas is a net recipient of federal dollars. Pretend otherwise all you want but if they ever seceded they would be a poor s***hole. And hey, what if Mexico decided to reclaim their former state? Is the U.S. going to go down and defend the secessionist state, I think not. Better get some Spanish lessons soon dumb asses.
