A New Jersey township has fired a police officer who last year described Black Lives Matter protesters as "terrorists" during the riots and will suspend and demote another for replying to a comment on the Facebook post.

There is a BLM organization that is Marxist. However, this organization is not the sole arbiter of the BLM movement. Significant distinction.

Having trained Marxists in the organization doesn't make the movement a Marxist movement.

The goal of the BLM movement is for police to stop being thugs. The goal is not to abolish private property.

From the link:

The project started with a mission "to build local power and to intervene when violence was inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes," the group's website says. "In the years since, we've committed to struggling together and to imagining and creating a world free of anti-Blackness, where every Black person has the social, economic and political power to thrive."

There's nothing Marxist in that mission statement.

"Last night as I left for work I had my two kids crying for me not to go to work. I don't think I've ever felt the way I did last night. And then I watched people I know and others I care about going into harms way. I love my police family like my own. So when you share posts and things on Facebook I'd really appreciate if you'd THINK before doing so. I've seen so many black lives matter [sic] hashtags in these posts. Just to let you know " they are terrorists. They hate me. They hate my uniform. They don't care if I die."

It's obvious from this comment she is not capable of respecting someone whom she perceives is part of the BLM movement.
As such, her bias renders her incapable of performing her sworn duty as a public servant.
This was a proper human resources decision. Hopefully only the first of many more to come.

Her ass got rightfully cancelled.

Cancel culture came for her because she opened her ------- mouth.

Don't want to get canceled, keep your ------- mouth shut. It's really that simple. You have no rights in the capitalist court of public opinion.

You don't have many rights in the workplace.
Republicans generally cheer that.
This time they won't.

#9 | Posted by snoofy at 2021-05-05 04:19 PM | Reply

And MADBOMBER actually proves my point. From his article:

IF YOUR TIME IS SHORT
Black Lives Matter was founded by community organizers. One of the three co-founders said in 2015 that she and another co-founder "are trained Marxists."

Black Lives Matter has grown into a national anti-racism movement broadly supported by Americans, few of whom would identify themselves as Marxist [rendering the BLM organization as NOT the sole arbiter of the movement, especially in terms of Marxist influence].

Thanks, MB!

Probably the first time I've ever seen you back up one of my posts.

Brilliant. Push out veteran officers who've never had an incident of abusing anyone and replace them with less experienced ones who might have even bigger chips on their shoulders. I'm sure that will end well.

Sure, and I have no problem with a police officer being disciplined for doing what she did, especially if the social media profile she used identifies her a police officer. But it does seem grossly disproportionate and a cynical move to throw the softest targets under the bus to try to appease a mob that had already moved on to being outraged about something else.

"There's nothing Marxist in that mission statement."

I think it's weird that you can be a "trained Marxist."

Where does one receive that training? Cuba? And what does it imply to be a trained Marxist? That you have studied the archaic economic philosophies of Karl Marx? If so, maybe I'm a trained Marxist.

Or do you actually have to ascribe to Marxian economic philosophies, which at this point in history have been recognized as irrelevant and not representative of the actual economic activity.

Yeah. The original 1974 paper that introduced the term "white privilege" can't be read without permission and is behind a paywall for a reason: it's just a list of about 50 or so assertions of the privileges you get for being white. But the reason you can't see it anymore is that it's almost identical to the The Protocols of the Elder of Zion, just with Jew scratched out and replaced with white.

White priviledge is a concept that those in power can use as a tool to manipulate the riff-raff.

Like the Nazi's blaming all of Germany's woes on the Jews. Or the other socialists claiming that poor people wouldn't be poor if it weren't for the rich people who had taken money that should have gone to them.

Honestly, the cops were probably more likely to target a 16 year old white skateboarder. Skateboarders didn't carry guns. Less of a threat.

I think Bernie would have actually strengthened Democracy in this country.

Currently, I don't think that 50.1% of voters could vote themselves access to 100% of the earned income. Until that is a possibility, there can be no socialism.

BLM is the appropriate response to DWB (driving while black). The right and thus the Republicans are still trying to force us all to declare racism is over even as they attempt to disenfranchise as many people of color as possible. Because the Republican Party has become the party of racists.
You can try to debate me on this but the obviousness of this fact is just so strong that your denials are ludicrous. What value do you think the Southern Strategy was based on? Why do you think it still works? Answer those questions honestly if you can....but many people I know, and who you know can't answer honestly. Pretending racism doesn't exist in America is....racist.

"Pretending racism doesn't exist in America is....racist."

There's a huge difference between saying racism does/doesn't exist in America, and saying America is/isn't a "racist country", implying that racism is ubiquitous at every level in every institution today. Clearly racism does exist in the U.S., just like it does in every other country. There's also a lot of things that people call racism when they clearly aren't. For example, the murder of George Floyd. There was absolutely zero evidence of race being a factor in that case.

it pretty much is

"People often define racism as disliking or mistreating others on the basis of race. That definition is wrong," said Roberts, who directs the Social Concepts Lab, part of the psychology department, in the School of Humanities and Sciences.

"Racism is a system of advantage based on race. It is a hierarchy. It is a pandemic. Racism is so deeply embedded within U.S. minds and U.S. society that it is virtually impossible to escape."

It is interesting that only white people (yes, there are a few exceptions; let's not quibble) are in denial about White Supremacy. Everybody else (black, brown, yellow and red) are all painfully aware of it.

Just like (many) men are in denial about patriarchy, but women know better.

It takes training and education to expose a whiteman to the intricacies of our society.

Most of my bosses and sergeants have been black men. I've learned more from them from 20 whitemen.

I can't help being white, red-headed, and fair-skinned; but at least I know there is a subculture of black men who yearn for equality and equity. And they are a majority.

Thank God none of my ancestors were rich enough to have slaves. Hell, my ancestors were white slaves. But, at least they got paid for their labor, or were forgiven debts to society for their sins.

My Grandfather's beef, who was born in 1903, was more pissed that my Great-Grandfather paid his itinerant workers in the dill fields the same as he was. He wasn't a racist, though. He just was resentful my Great-Grandfather treated him the same as the black field workers.
