Dozens of Republicans are planning to call for reforms amid escalating divisions within their party and are threatening to form a separate group if GOP members do not break away from former President Trump.

"hatred of Trump"

You mean patriotic American who's concerned about the future of Constitutional rule and law?

What a terrible platform!

This would do well. I know a lot of Repubs who aren't Dems but aren't Trumplicans either.

A strong centrist party made up of disaffected Rs & Ds AND Independents would, indeed, do well.

Hatred of an idiotic racist pig who wants to be king of an America he's responsible for killing a million residents of?
Yeah. Suck it.

Platform? Has the "platform" been the reason you've been voting for republicans your whole life?

No. You vote for them because you're brainwashed that dems=bad. It doesn't matter what their platform is, you'll vote for them. The only message you need is "we aren't demorats" because hatred of democrats is all that matters to you. Just like you say dems feel about trump.

Except dems save and improve lives. Trump kills and ruins them. Slight difference.

Party?!? What kind of party would that be, with
-no secret overseas money
-no casual insults to every third person who walks in the door
-no ability to grope every woman under 50
-no stupid nicknames for every enemy
-no cattle pen full of sycophants eager to jump when you call
-no acting like you own the place when you are actually only using it under license from the American People

A party of ideas, action in support of voters, moral conduct and an attempt to provide an example for citizens, children and those around the world who look at America with a jaundiced eye is no party for the oaf and his leeches, jackals and dull-witted followers...

Translation: as long as they aren't so obvious about their support for overthrowing the Constitution then I'm all for it.

They should do it. Cut out the cancer. Plus such a move would likely result in greatly increased support for ranked choice/instant runoff voting which I am a big supporter of.

The GOP has swung this country so far right that the "center" is still pretty conservative.

It certainly is helpful that Cheney has forced the issue. Really puts the spotlight on the current mental illness of the GOP and forces the saner members to hopefully confront it.

#14 centrist in Europe maybe but in America they are pretty left wing. I don't see a whole lot of moderate republicans going with a party that supports universal healthcare, basic income, and a wealth tax.

Yes if they all agree to stick the the same lie and attack democracy together, there's no limit to what they can achieve, as long as they have chumps like you willing to vote for them no matter what.

Eberly.

I believe Speak is saying. In general.

You should be supporting Democratic politicians at a local level. Despite the fact you live in a Republican bastion.

You seem well off and well connected. Who knows. Maybe you actually could make a change.

-You should be supporting Democratic politicians at a local level. Despite the fact you live in a Republican bastion.

Have you spent any time involved in local politics?

The difference between parties at the local level diminishes a ton. In many cases, you can't tell the difference between the candidates regarding partisanship.

Guns, gays, and abortion aren't debated locally.

Many national issues remain national. Not local

And with that said, I do and will support democrats when they manage to run for something.

NIXON

"They will not get enough donors to support a third party that will never hold power."

Nor the signatures needed to get on the ballot in all 50 states.

However, if they're brave and serious they could form a caucus that would upset Mitch's stranglehold on the minority (50-51 including Kamala Harris) in the Senate.

However, it would take more than a few committed souls with a conscience and in a "safe" state to overcome Trump's threats.

It would have to be like a band of brothers.

#41 | Posted by Twinpac at 2021-05-13 08:19 AM | Reply

They need to stop talking and act. Run candidates against every tRumpfluffing GQP in House and Senate races.
They likely won't win but might siphon off enough votes to make the GQP lose.
Talk won't do anything- McCarthy and McConnell losing seats will.
They won't though...

#42 | Posted by northguy3 at 2021-05-13 08:38 AM | Reply

The only thing that might happen is that the RNC will run someone else in some house primaries. Maybe Liz Cheney will feel the heat from something like that.

But that's as far as it goes......

Oh you've already told us. You SAY didn't vote for trump (but you didn't vote against him either.) You DID vote for senators and congressman who support trump, helped protect him from accountability, and kept him in power even once evidence of his crimes and corruption was clear.

Then you complain about the things the GOP is doing. You attack them with your WORDS but reward their behavior with your VOTE. They don't care about your words. As long as they have your vote, they can keep acting like they're acting, or even getting worse.

Often times I lock horns on an issue here with someone and 2-3 others join that poster on their side.

You'll notice nobody ever does that for you.

Haha you always use the most arrogant terms to describe yourself.

Instead of "obsessive stalking" you say "locking horns" or "accept my challenge"

But change the subject to it every time.

So, you'll experience the same with your gf.

we can move on to your mom, if you'd like.

or your dad

or your sister

or your ex-wife

or your priest when you were an alter boy

whatever pain you carry with you today........let's talk about that.

I know what you're trying to do. You're flagging all of my posts hoping the boss man suspends me for attacking you. You're dying for it to happen so you can claim victory. It's the only solution you can see. It's not like you can debate an issue with any degree of honesty or integrity and everybody here can see that.

What's flawed about your plan is you're just shining a light on your own trolling --------.....which is exactly what the boss man sees it for.

So, if you want me to face the music.....you'll face it too.
