After Texas relaxed COVID-19 restrictions, other respiratory illnesses -- such as colds, bronchitis and pneumonia -- made rapid rebounds.

Or texas just started reporting covid illnesses as these other illnesses to hide their covid numbers.

Gotta help the cult leader hide the pandemic he couldn't handle.

Florida and Texas are determined to kill as many of their residents as they can.

Spouse and I have chatted about how neither of us got a cold of flu over the winter. Due to the nature of my work, I deal with a lot of people face to face. We're contemplating wearing a mask out in public next cold and flue season.

Before anybody says it, no, this isn't because wearing masks and distancing suppressed our immune systems.

Unless everyone else does it too, it won't help much.

Asians do it because they have a sense of duty to others in their society. Americans think having to look out for others is a form of communism.

Are you saying you have better statistics from some other source, that proves that colds and flus were just as common this past year as every other year?

Or are you just emulating your cult leader and talking out of your ass?

If I get sick and still have to work in person, you damn well better believe I'm going to be wearing a mask.

I carry a bottle of bleach with me. Anyone who looks sick and isn't wearing a mask will get sprayed down.

#12 That comes next, but you have to get a cloud of disinfectant in between you and the perp first, for safety.

This makes sense, of course. Social distancing and masks not only prevented the spread of Covid, it would have prevented most respiratory ailments. Now that the rules have eased, respiratory ailments would obviously rebound and spread as they did pre-Covid.

I do not understand why this is news to be honest unless the writer is suggesting we forever practice social distancing and mask wearing to prevent ailments we've been living with for millenia.

Apparently it's not just Texas.

It's news because we might have learned something about health and safety and how the use of masks reduces the instances of other respiratory diseases in addition to helping to end a pandemic.

So what is so wrong with continuing to wear masks (when necessary) if it is continuing to "prevent ailments we have been living with for ages"?

Are you afraid of masks? Do they hurt you somehow? When did Americans become such snowflakes?

Great question.

These half-wits wouldn't have washed their hands 150 years ago.

"Resistance to change" has proven to be the most succinct definition of the conservative mindset.

Nowadays they resist simply for the sake of resistance. There's no deeper ideology, just a perpetual "No" to anyone who wants to make the world a better place.
