It should be called the ---- jobs database. Lol. And people wonder why nobody wants these jobs.

Those aren't real jobs. Employers should not expect to fill them full-time, they are just starter jobs for kids.
No real company needs these jobs to survive.

TN elected another wealthy businessman as governor who doesn't give a s*** about anyone.

Phil Bredesen was the last decent governor we had.

Off topic AU, I was wondering if you're interested at all in the new Gibson Garage theme park/store that just opened. I've been through Nashville twice this year and may have to take another trip to check it out.

I thought the economy was doing so well that wages were increasing to fill those jobs?

Cheap ---- employers offer just what you'd expect: cheap ---- jobs.
It's not a bug in the system.
It's the system.

"I thought the economy was doing so well that wages were increasing to fill those jobs?"

The economy isn't doing too well in Republican-led Tennessee? What a surprise!

That's the first I heard about it. Just did a little Googling. Looks interesting. Gibson has another place at the Opry Mills mall with live music, etc.

FYI, while you're downtown in Nashville, someone recreated the diner at the location where John Lewis and others did their sit in back in the early 60's, one of the things that got the Civil Rights movement started. I haven't been yet because of the pandemic, but I want to go soon.

Lots of openings at Fedex. Good Company.
Lots of jobs at Dollar General. Bad company.

No sign of whether the Jack Daniels Distillery is hiring tasters...

I'm sure the only benefit listed is, "this job makes filing taxes a breeze." Also: hours, 6 AM to 5 PM, leaving you plenty of time to work your second job or side-hustle."

What we're going to see is that either these jobs remain unfilled until employers offer appropriate wages, or young people will migrate out of red states to places where you can live on the wages of one job.

There are 167,000 people in Tennessee who are unemployed. 250,000 jobs need to be filled. So either natural market forces will force employers to drastically raise salaries, or they will go without the workers they need.

Things went straight downhill for Tennessee soon after this:

An Old Saying in Tennessee

Anyway, I knew this guy from Tennessee. He was really REALLY dumb.

He was so dumb that he took a fulltime job paying only $3 an hour.

But you know what made him really REALLY dumb?

He wanted his wages paid in cash so let his employer pay him with $3 bills.

red states love bragging about low unemployment while ignoring high poverty

The minimum wage should be called the "poverty wage". The one thing R's and D's have in common is the both think poverty is the stick that makes us work.

The minimum wage should be called the "poverty wage".

Any person over the age of 30 trying to do grown up life on "poverty wages" should be called someone who needs a skill.
