Peru on Sunday marked a week since presidential elections whose results have been delayed by fraud claims from rightwing candidate Keiko Fujimori, who risks an imminent corruption trial if leftist rival Pedro Castillo holds on to his narrow lead.

The RWNJ claiming fraud because she's losing? Wow, I'd never have seen that coming.

"... if the electoral board can't deliver "truly clean" results..."

Guess what their definition of "truly clean" is....

Right wing elites in Peru have to ask themselves the following: Would they prefer a democratically elected, left leaning candidate who they disagree with on many issues ascending to the presidency, or do they want to go back to the good old days of Sendero Luminoso and passenger trains full of tourists getting blown up? I was in Peru in the '80s. It was a society constantly under siege.

Those were bad times.

Keiko Fujimori sounds more than a bit corrupt and not deserving of office if allegations are true. From what the article says, Pedro Castillo gets my vote.

The margin is very slim unlike the US election and something to watch.
