ERCOT, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, urged customers to turn air conditioning to no cooler than 78 degrees and to conserve power, as it expects more blackouts throughout the week -- this time during extreme heat.

Maybe Texas should build a power grid before they try to build a wall.

Guaranteed the A/C's won't be set at 78 degrees in Austin's capitol buildings. The GOP powderpuffs would be aghast at the suggestion they should suffer along with their constituents.

Every state and municipality should save power. This idea makes the most sense, but it doesn't fit the hate Texas narrative here.

Phes,
Does it fit the 'Texas is super-fabulous without no gotdamn regulations on no Texas power grid' narrative?

Survey says no.

Hold on to your depends, Phes; The story plainly states that Texas can not supply sufficient power to meet the needs of it's citizens, corporations, and shareholders.

That is "Failure", Phes. Does the term "Failed State" fit the Texas narrative?

This is a classic symptom of a failed energy policy, leading to a failed energy industry.

You are a snowflake truth denier on the magnitude of a 'Bagdad Bob'.

Have a blessed day, old feller.

Chances are the residents will go all "Earth Day" and set the AC to 50 degrees and open all the windows.

California is now unable to perform even basic functions of civilization, like having reliable electricity.

Biden/Harris/AOC want to make CA's failed energy policy the standard nationwide.

Hope you don't like air conditioning!

78 in Texas? MAN they will MELT. When I go to Texas in the summer the places I go I have to wear sweatshirts indoors because they have the AC cranked so low and there is usually condensation on the windows... I have never understood it personally.

#5 | POSTED BY PHESTEROBOYLE

Probably because that's not the story here. The story isn't that they should conserve energy, it's that they are forced to thanks to their crappy energy grid. But you knew that.
What I don't get is why you support Republicans when you constantly find yourself at odds with their ideas. Conserving energy is not a Pub value.

As I write this some guys showed up on the I-35 bridge over the Red River, with 50,000 feet of extension cord to tap into Okiehomie wind power to cool the BBQ stand just south of the state line...

By "Old Glory" you are most certainly referring to the Stars and Bars.

That's the Conservative flag in case you haven't noticed.

#16 - there ain't gonna be much power at the end of that extension cord! LMAO!

So Texas can't supply electricity when it's cold, and can't supply it when it's hot. And yet blue states like Colorado have no trouble with power regardless of weather. What does that tell you about how well R deregulation works?

It seems that abdicating the responsibility to properly manage a state's power grid is also a Conservative measure.

California has been trying to promote conservation of energy and natural resources for decades whilst Texas poo pooed and even undermined California's efforts.

NOW you see the reason why we point and laugh at you??

Probably not.

Good luck with that. Texans believe it's their God given right to consume consume consume.

One of my favorites when I lived there was listening to them bitch about the price of gas and how expensive it was to fill up their trucks.

I would ask why they don't get a more fuel efficient car because the vast majority of them did nothing remotely necessary to own a pick up (ie real estate agent).

The most common rebuttal was along the lines of "you're a yankee, you don't understand our culture."

You'd figure the self proclaimed greatest energy producing state in the history of the country would have no trouble cooling or warming it's citizens whenever they needed it. Texas, all hat, no cattle.

Ercot has issued a statement saying "The grid is operating exactly as planned."

Well yeah, they planned for a ------ grid in order to maximize profits for a handful of shareholders. The fact that poor people are dying because of it is just extra value to these psychopaths.

Suck it up Texas...this is the free market cannibalism you wanted. So what if the power grid only works good ten months of the year? I am sure Gregg Abbot and the shareholders of the power companies won't lose power.
