GREAT, HOWEVER, please fix the rest of the VA or disband it for USP, preferred.
the VA will kill you. it's about killed me, it may yet. yes, i am fighting it, but do not want nor did i seek this fight. these things have a way of falling on me. i can flee or fight. if it's happening to me, it's happening to many.

Now, if you want to see a doctor about some ailment or concern you feel is not urgent enough to require you present at the ER, we now have to call a 1-800 number, inform the operator of the nature of your complaint, then they pass that along to a nurse who calls back a couple days later to triage you over the phone to determine whether you'll get a appointment with your primary team doctor. I used be able to call the team number directly or drop in at the hospital to set a appointment. Not anymore, evidently. The VA now prefers to practice medicine over the telephone.

Is it because the Bush-Cheney Iraq War resulted in so many injured U.S. military personnel?

Finally, they're running government like a business!

eye roll... what a waste of taxpayer money... a person born with a perfectly good, fully functional, and otherwise normal set of -------- and secondary sexual characteristics doesn't need them modified at government expense. That's a vanity item.

That is b.s.

There are veterans living in poverty and people want to spend money on this b.s.

Actually, most of the people who oppose this aren't interested in spending money on veterans living in poverty, either.

re: #8...No. It was a parting gift left by the 3 hedge funder Mondo Lardo members Trump put in charge of the VA, sort of along the lines of what that DeJoy clown attempted to do to the post office. Given the entrenchment inherent in all federal bureaucracies, it will take years to fix what TrumpCo broke.

I would not be surprised to find out that gender affirming surgery will be a small percentage of what the VA spends on erectile disfunction. Yet, that is usually related to life style and health choices men have made.

I think they should be working more on figuring out how to regrow ---------... Yes I am rather bias lol

The VA currently provides bariatric surgery.

Medically necessary treatments should be up to the doc and patient.

#23 | Posted by BellRinger at 2021-06-21 10:13 PM | Reply

Hmm.

I wonder if they will begin offering other types of cosmetic surgery as well.

I do know that various procedures were offered on a case-by-case basis, but mostly to allow doctors to stay practiced on them for when they needed to treat a patient who needed them for something other than self-affirmation.

That being said, there isn't a need for military surgeons to know how to conduct these procedures. Most likely they would be outsourced to a specialist.

Any time in the surgery suite is useful to most surgeons. If I step on a mine or get my netherregions messed up by an IED I would want a surgeon that has done a lot of work in the pelvic region.

Military doctors work for DOD, VA doctors work for Department of Veteran Affairs. Seperate entities. Seperate credentialling, hiring, pay Ect. VA contracts with many surgeons and specialists to provide consultation and care. If you need a 'link,' I've worked for both.
