The Biden administration and U.S. allies on Monday blamed the Chinese government for a sprawling web of cyberattacks, including a blizzard of hacks into Microsoft email servers in March and intrusions for which Beijing partnered with cyber criminals.

I think selective expulsions are in order, along with other totalitarian regimes like Saudi. Kick out their elite and spies, but let in regular folks to see what freedom is like.

Biden is okay (if a tad bit old for the job),
Trump, on the other hand, is the beginning of
the 4th Reich...

#4 Scotte, that would be a little(?) racist,
and prejudge everyone in a ethnic group,
just because they belong to that ethnic group.

That being said, NO foreign nationals should be
allowed access to Top Secret SCI knowledge and above,
or to cutting edge technologies, except where absolutely
necessary (and then heavily monitored).

Example of a possible exception. Interpreter. But American
citizens should ALWAYS have preference in hiring for
these positions.

#8 | Posted by earthmuse at 2021-07-20 07:39 AM | Reply

Just coincidentally, Scotte goes for the schools. Predictable wannabe fascist behavior. It's always the universities isn't it? Not, as Earth points out, Chinese nationals with security clearance or complicit Russian Trumpists or anything.

Truth be told, I don't care what they do to us...well I do, but we are looking at the wrong angle. We have better hackers than China and Russia, as a population. I say for every major hack they do, we hack ten times worse until they stop. We should be disabling power grids and posting naked pictures of Xi and Putin all over their social media platforms.

#9 | Posted by bocaink at 2021-07-20 09:27 AM | Reply

Earthmuse, racist?? Not even close.

And I'm not prejudging anyone although there are students and professors engaged in espionage. My suggestion is not just preventative but also punitive.

This is the country that unleashed a pandemic on the world and have refused to cooperate with any investigation and we're less than transparent when it first started. They are stealing our intellectual property, government intelligence, and extorting millions from American companies, so no...none of your citizens will be allowed to study at our educational institutions.

As was pointed out earlier China never faces any repercussions for it's bad behavior, so why should they stop?

My opinion on China has always been why do we trade one stick of wood or one grain of rice with communist China? I'm all for free trade with free countries but not brutal totalitarian regimes. You can thank Nixon and the Republicans for opening the door but I don't remember any Democrats trying to shut it.

And the idea that opening up our markets to them would make them more democratic has been proven false...they are just as repressionist and brutal as the day the tanks rolled into Tiananmen Square.

#10 | Posted by ScottE at 2021-07-20 09:44 AM | Reply

And I'm okay with sending all citizens of communist China back. Tell them they got 30 days to liquidate all their US holdings pack their $#!t and get the f@#k out!
See I put my country first and you put your ideology above everything else which is why it's easy to convince some folks that the left hates America.
I suggest punative steps toward a country that is openly hostile to our interests and you start screaming racist and fascist.

#11 | Posted by ScottE at 2021-07-20 10:01 AM | Reply

Your right about that Eberly... except I didn't vote for Trump or anyone else on the list. But because I think we should punish a brutal totalitarian regime that is actively trying to undermine our country the disparaging labels start being applied to me.
Again I'll say that's why it's easy to convince some that the left hates America.

You think it's the universities because you don't understand what really happens at universities.

Hint, pretty much anything at the university level is available to the general public. The universities make the information easier to access and understand.

Guess what information is NOT always available to the general public?

You have an agenda Scotte.

I'll speak as a "hater."

I never hated anyone who voted for McCain, Bush I, Reagan, and especially Dole. I pine for the days of loyal opposition. I grew to like Romney more after 2012, and not just because of Trump, but I saw the documentary MITT, and he seemed like an okay, if overly privileged guy. It was more Paul Ryan than Mitt, but I knew what kind of fiscal trouble they wanted to cause.

But really Snoofy you more than anyone on this site is constantly railing against the evils of corporate America....they don't care who they hurt or what they destroy in pursuit of profit...and now you're defending them.

much could be accomplished if there were simply an thorough overhaul of

cut off access to sensitive data in the govy. Granted, private industry is a
little bit behind.

But it is well known (by now), that hostile actors will stop at nothing to
access this data...the rest is a NO Brainer.

I think "gullible" is a better term to describe dolts like you and boskank who, for as long as you've been 18, described each of those I listed as "worst president/candidate ever".

each one. worst ever.....every time.

in hindsight, it's always less hostile. You get over things, let history decide and in the big picture, they weren't so bad....again, in hindsight.

boskank even admits it.

But at the time....your hair was on fire. You passionately hated those men and those who voted for them.

Bush did so many things that are beyond terrible that you supported at the time, and Romney/Ryan would have been almost as bad. Just because I think he was a better person than Trump or W doesn't mean he would have been good for the country. Same for McCain and even Dole for that matter.
