Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A man in Georgia needed a double lung transplant after refusing a coronavirus vaccine and then getting infected. His suffering prompted his mother to urge others in his position to get vaccinated. Blake Bargatze, 24, has been hospitalized since April, NBC News reported. His mother, Cheryl Bargatze Nuclo, told the NBC affiliate WXIA that he was hesitant to get vaccinated ahead of attending an indoor concert in Florida, where he was likely infected. She said he wanted to wait much longer before getting a shot: "He wanted to wait until it was out for, like, 10 years or so, kind of like a lot of the population wants it to be out longer."

Now he is on immune suppressing drugs. How soon until he gets covid again and wastes these lungs?

These idiots should not be eligible for transplants at all.

Ah, come on, fellas! He was afraid of vaccination side effects, which somehow never included a double lung transplant.

Or maybe he's just another Trump Hillbilly Fascist. In any case, yes....There's every chance he'll waste this transplant and die anyway.

Even if he is insured, everyone in his insurance pool is paying for it.

If his Go Fund Me page doesn't receive enough cash there are always cancer charities to steal from.

Well honestly, yes. There are probably more deserving recipients who are on the list through no fault of their own. If your own negligence leads to this situation you should be at the end of the list. It's like someone with cirrhosis from drinking - you won't get a new liver if you still drink. If there were no other more deserving patients then fine give them to him, but I don't think insurance should have to cover it if you refuse to get vaccinated.

Lung transplant life span is horrid anyhow. About 50% of people make it to 5 years. A friend and her sister both had transplants (genetic) when I was just out of high school about a year apart. Neither made it more than 30 days.

How many more young people are going to have their health ruined because they chose not to get the shot.
From Georgia, got sick in Florida.

I would blame Florida, but their no motorcycle helmet law likely provided the lungs for the transplant.

Good thing no one was forced to wear a mask or a helmet, life is optional.

It's at the point now where health insurance companies should deny coverage to people who choose to go unvaccinated unless they have a very good medical reason for foregoing vaccination.

" I would blame Florida, but their no motorcycle helmet law likely provided the lungs for the transplant."

As someone who worked in Trauma, that is actually very very true. Motorcycle fatalaities really do help out the organ donation pool, and Florida's no helmet law means more death, less disability.

"Don't tell me white privilege does not exist."

That is actually NOT true. Organ recipient protocol is very specific and includes many factors, especially weighted by the likelihood that the transplant will be successful, so younger recipients are favored. Sadly a VERY low percentage of African Americans are organ donors due to justified mistrust of medical systems. Fortunately, race is not always a factor in compatibility. There are lots of Black survivors walking around with organs from white donors. Very few of the opposite.

A common belief is that if you are an organ donor they will "pull the plug" earlier to harvest your organs. The reverse is true. Sometimes they will keep a donor on life support for days in order to protect the organs for transport.

f faced weasel is lucky I like his mom or I'd be in favor of those lungs being removed.

So to those of you wishing death on unvaccinated COVID patients ... ... do you feel about AIDS victims? Should AIDS research and treatment be defunded/ denied?

#22 | Posted by Miranda7 at 2021-07-20 08:18 PM | Reply

Why yes I am in favor of people who have done everything right getting treatment over those who got AIDS as a result of their being careless Reckless and foolish AF.
