Officials are concerned about a recent COVID-19 outbreak at a nursing home in Yarmouth on Cape Cod.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, 24 residents and nine staff members at the Maplewood at Mayflower Place nursing home have tested positive for COVID since July 10, The Boston Globe reported. The outbreak grew quickly: just last week, on July 16, the Cape Cod Times reported that over 10 people had tested positive for the virus.

Most of the residents that tested positive are vaccinated, and are asymptomatic or experiencing only mild symptoms, the Globe reported. COVID-positive residents were offered monoclonal antibody therapeutics, and positive staff are "stable," according to the DPH.

Hello, CDC, what's up with this?!?:

Vaccinated people: Your odds of a COVID 'breakthrough' infection have gone up.

The CDC doesn't encourage any of the 160 million vaccinated people across the US who are exposed to COVID-19 to get tested for it, unless they go on to develop symptoms.

Instead, the country relies on data from the UK and Israel to figure out how well COVID-19 can dodge our vaccines.

This puts the US at a disadvantage as the virus continues to morph, doing its best to survive. With Delta around, we know vaccinated people are not as well protected as they once were. Now, we risk missing the signals of a more dangerous variant--something that our existing vaccines would barely combat.

Dean[a former top-tier official at the California Department of Public Health] said, given the low level of testing and sequencing being done on fully vaccinated people right now, there's no way the US can keep tabs on the virus well enough. If we want to know how decent the vaccine protection of the country really is, Dean said, we need to know when vaccinated people are getting infected, what variant they have, and how severe their case is.

"It's very concerning to me that we're 20 months into the pandemic and we don't have that capability yet," she said. "The technology has to move faster than the pathogen."

"The technology has to move faster than the pathogen."

Technology isn't stopping people from getting vaccinated. People are.

I see little upside to sequencing people without symptoms, whether vaccinated or not.

@#2 ... Vaccinated people: Your odds of a COVID 'breakthrough' infection have gone up. ...

The J&J vaccine, one which many people took because it was a one-shot vaccine, has a 80% rate of preventing COVID, and a 100% rate of keeping people out of the hospital.

So that means that one in 5 of those who got the J&J vaccine may get non-severe COVID. From what the local news has been reporting, the NY Yankees got the J&J shot.

The Delta variant may make the shot a little less protective, but from what I've been seeing, the 100% rate of keeping people out of the hospital is still holding.

fwiw, here in Connecticut, the positive test rate has increased from 0.3% to nearly 2% over the past couple of weeks, and the number of people in the hospital due to COVID has increased from 25 a couple weeks ago to 55 this week.

imo, the way to fight this virus is to get vaccinated to reduce the number of people who get the virus and reduce the probability of new variants appearing.

Today's numbers...

Positivity rate: 2.2%
COVID hospitalizations: 66

Then there's this...

Sub base dials back reopening amid rising state infections
www.newstimes.com

...The Navy's submarine base in Connecticut is reinstituting stricter COVID-19 protocols amid rising infection rates in the state.

Submarine Base New London raised what is known as its Force Health Protection Condition on Wednesday from Alpha back to the stricter Bravo for the first time since June 10.

That means gathering sizes in the gymnasium and for events on the base may be limited. The base's racquetball courts have been closed and its swimming pool will be open by appointment only.

Mask requirements remain in effect at the base clinic, child development and youth centers and for people on base who aren't fully vaccinated....

So, basically Biden's plan to lower covid case counts is to decrease testing. I distinctly remember a former US president stating the relationship between testing and cases and the Liberals calling him stupid and a murderer for it. Does it hold for Biden, who has actually implemented it?

Despite the liberal whine

So Dr. Fauci can suck it.

Anyone who is unvaccinated, unmasked and refused to social distance and catches covid and dies did not die from the virus, they died from their own stupidity.

Linda Zuern it says died from complications from the COVID infection will allow the truly stupid to say "See, the virus didn't kill her".
