MFA:

The latest figures are based on cases logged from June 20 to July 17, a period when the delta variant of COVID-19 spread throughout Israel.

The report has also reflected the decreasing potency of the vaccination, showing a mere 16 percent effectiveness against transmission among those vaccinated in January, compared to 44 percent of those vaccinated in February, 67 percent of those who received their shots in March, and 75 percent for those vaccinated in April.

The vaccine's effectiveness at preventing severe cases for those vaccinated in January remains 86 percent, according to the figures, only slightly lower than those vaccinated in the following months.

The above is probably why the UK and France are already planning on booster shots for "the most vulnerable" i.e. the very people who were vaccinated first:

Covid France: Who should get a third booster vaccination in autumn?
President Macron said people who are the most vulnerable to the virus will be able to make appointments for a booster shot from August
These include patients in elderly care homes, people aged over 75, and people with conditions that made them extremely vulnerable to the virus.

@#2 ... The above is probably why the UK and France are already planning on booster shots ...

Looks like the White House may be starting to move in the booster shot direction as well..

Biden administration buying more vaccine doses for kids and possible boosters
www.cbsnews.com

...The federal government is exercising a clause in its contract with Pfizer to buy 200 million more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including for children under 12 if and when the Food and Drug Administration gives the green light and to prepare for the possibility of booster shots, according to an administration official familiar with the contract.

"Here's the bottom line " we've always prepared for every scenario," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday, confirming the purchase.

The doses will be delivered between fall 2021 and spring 2022, as President Joe Biden says the vaccine will likely be available for young children "soon," and as experts study whether a booster shot might be necessary for fully vaccinated individuals in the future. ...

Good article expanding on what the new data could mean:

Israeli Data Suggests Possible Waning in Effectiveness of Pfizer Vaccine

The new numbers still show overwhelmingly strong protection against severe disease but diminished effectiveness against infection.

Answer: Is it possible that the reason China infections are fraction of United States & Europe is because Covid-19 was
engineered to be less transmissible for gene types that make up vast majority of Chinese population.

Question: Whats more concerning Covid-19 issue that urgently needs to be investigated?

More on booster shots...

Vaccine boosters are increasingly likely
www.axios.com

...As the Delta variant continues to drive a fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the U.S., Biden officials see a booster shot among at least some vaccinated Americans as increasingly likely.

Why it matters: Another round of shots -- beginning as early as late fall -- could not only boost the level of protection against the virus among the vaccinated, but also help curb its spread throughout the population.

Between the lines: The amount of neutralizing antibodies a person has following their first two doses of Pfizer and Moderna's coronavirus vaccines appears to drop over time, which is a very normal thing to happen with vaccines.

-- The outstanding scientific question has been what that means for the person's overall protection against the virus, especially because neutralizing antibodies aren't the body's only form of immunity....

While I tend to agree with that comment, I'd also add that the question posed is something that should be understood at some point.

However, far more important questions that need to be understood, and ones that should be investigated even before the question posed in #6, are the following...

Late 2019, early 2020 an enemy encroached upon the shores of our Country.

Why did fmr Pres Trump not only embrace, but also assist, that enemy in its attack upon Americans? Instead of protecting Americans, why did fmr Pres Trump help it kill Americans?

Which genes?

Lamplighter's questions are already understood. Pres Trump was inexperienced, incompetent, and suffering from wishful thinking. However, there is hard to see any
intent to "assist, that enemy" because the pandemic was anthemic to Pres Trum's re-electiom bid.

When you say, "the pandemic was anthemic to Pres Trum's re-electiom bid." do you mean he saw it as helpful to his re-election bid, (anthemic), or not helpful (antithetic).

If the former, I'd agree. fmr Pres Trump tried to use the pandemic to split the Country for his political (i.e., re-election) benefit.

Also personal (i.e. monetary) benefit.

worth a read

www.npr.org

the government ban applies to all experiments that might make these viruses more dangerous in any mammal.

In response to questions from NPR, an NIH spokesperson sent this explanation:

"These three agents that are subject to the pause share the characteristics of not only being human health threats " causing in some instances significant morbidity and mortality, as you know " but furthermore having the potential to be the agents of a pandemic because they are transmitted easily by respiratory droplets. So experiments that would make them even more pathogenic in mammals (and hence potentially in people) were concerning enough to warrant placing those experiments under the pause until their risks and benefits could be better characterized."
But Baric says, when it comes to SARS and MERS, there are key differences between people and mice.

"No. 1, mice don't sneeze," says Baric, so they don't transmit these diseases through the air. And he says the process of adapting these viruses to mice actually makes the germs less able to infect human cells.

"They're safer," says Baric.

The pandemic was a slam dunk for trump. All he had to do was take it seriously and he'd have been re elected. He's the one who turned it into a failure for the country and himself.

He went back to his only method of addressing any problem - lie about it til it goes away. That's all he knows how to do. He'd never met a problem it didn't solve for him until he met covid.

So vax and mask should do it. I don't see what the problem is.

@#16 ... So vax and mask should do it. ...

~We may be tired of the virus, but the virus is not yet tired of us.~

A public health person in Texas said that, if I remember, a year or so ago.

Found a reference...

www.thedailybeast.com (June 2020)

...Dr. Umair Shah, executive director of Harris County Public Health.... "Our real goal right now is to remember that we may be tired of the virus, but the virus isn't tired of us."

Such a distillation of so much knowledge into so few words.

Currently the vax and mask seem to be working.

But with the walking petri dishes of the unvaccinated allowing the virus to plot new attack tactics against the defenses we have in place, we do not currently know the future.

That's one reason why the White House is looking at the possible need of booster shots for some vulnerable folk.

There are some good articles on how China got things under control - more or less - and nothing they did is possible in most of the world. Can you imagine the screaming of those that are crying out about China if we did what they did?

"They were able to pull together all of the resources of the one-party state,... This of course includes both the coercive tools - severe, mandatory mobility restrictions for millions of people " but also highly effective bureaucratic tools that are maybe unique to China."

"In so doing, the Chinese Communist authorities suppressed speech, policed and purged dissenting views and suffocated any notion of individual freedom or mobility - actions that are repugnant and unacceptable in any democratic society."

Dear Comrade.

Trumpy purposely played down the dangers. He is criminally negligent as well as being a completely incompetent moron.

Question: Why do you think pooty poot helped him get elected?
