A spokesperson for Facebook, which owns Instagram, said the feature "does not violate our policies". The social networking service also added that swastika "can be used in cultural context that predates Nazism", but there is no plan to take it down.

NO american that gets a swastika tattoo is using the symbol from context that predates nazism. Not even SSentinel.

This is facebook punting because they're weak.

Personally, I don't get tattoos, period. Is Facebook scared of me? Or of the billions of users who are either from or aware of the cultures which still use the symbol in its original contexts? You clearly want to keep people who don't conform to your whiteness out of this country, but Facebook and other companies still need to think about overseas markets and minorities within the U.S. There have been articles published in India about the struggles of the Hindu diaspora have had to endure here, including fighting locals which would unconstitutionally ban their religious symbols. It's clear that the swastika in the image filter of this story is not a hakenkreuz. Bigots like the Instapound troll who faked outrage while wearing it don't care. This type of bigotry is just as bad as the kind that Trump spread about Muslims.

Like Lt. Raine, I prefer Nazis wearing something they can't take off.

"I understand what the symbol stands for and the multiple meanings."
And yet she deliberately lied about it, telling her followers to report it as a "nazi" and "hate" symbol. The woman is obviously trolling and just trying to promote her image and her clothing company.
