State Rep. Jake Ellzey of Waxahachie beat fellow Republican Susan Wright on Tuesday to succeed her late husband, U.S. Rep. Ron Wright, R-Arlington, and pull off a major upset against a candidate backed by former President Donald Trump.

Trump team blames conservative for loser endorsement
www.axios.com

...Donald Trump's advisers are angry at David McIntosh, president of the conservative Club for Growth, for persuading the former president to endorse a losing candidate in the special election for Texas' 6th District.

Why it matters: Susan Wright's defeat Tuesday in a Republican runoff with Navy veteran Jake Ellzey dealt a blow to Trump's aura of invincibility as a Republican kingmaker. It's critical to his 2022 midterm endorsements and continued hold on the GOP....

@#5 ... Donald Trump's advisers are angry at David McIntosh, president of the conservative Club for Growth, for persuading the former president to endorse a losing candidate ...

Wasn't it fmr Pres Trump who made the decision to endorse? That ole "buck stops here" thing....

But I'm really not surprised at his advisors trying to blame everyone else. I just wonder how long it will be before they start blaming the media...

He takes no responsibility for his mistakes and claims credit for all good things even if he contributed nothing.

The article used the word "kingmaker." LOL, that's funny.

Th only "king" Donald wants to make is himself. I guess there's a method to Trump's madness. He would expect anybody he endorses to act like indentured servants grateful to him for their daily bread.

Trump giveth and Trump taketh away. By the way, that's the same threat he's making to Mitch McConnell's majority leadership if the Republicans take back the Senate in 2022. Trump's really angry at McConnell for working with President Biden to pass the infrastructure bill. Trump called McConnell an "old crow."

So an "old cow" is calling another Republican an "old crow"...

that's about right...

There is no BFF relationship between Trump and McConnell. Mitch is now on Trump's "enemies list" for violating Trump's famous 'Fealty to the King' expectation.

Mitch replies by saying that Trump's influence on the Senate is at low ebb.

(There are rumors of laughing at Trump in the Senate cloakroom.)

Trump is a has been, a useta' was, a wuz gonna with an emotional banty rooster syndrome.

Earlier this month, former President Donald Trump scrawled a celebratory note on a polling memo that appeared to point to a big win for a new ally (Susan Wright).

"David " Good! I'm all in," Trump wrote across the top of the document to David McIntosh, the influential head of the anti-tax Club for Growth. The memo summarized a May survey showing Texas Republican Susan Wright, who Trump had endorsed at McIntosh's recommendation during a meeting at his Mar-a-Lago resort, with a big 17-point lead over her Republican opponent in a House special election.

Once Republicans realize everything Trump touches dies, the right wing will be talking up DeSantis or some other Trump ------- as the presumptive nominee. But I can't think of one Republican besides maybe Romney who'd be palatable enough to appeal to enough sane voters for Republicans to have a chance of avoiding a monumental landslide loss in 2024. But as we know, the large percentage of Trump Republicans in the party won't vote for an anti-Trump candidate. Republicans have dug themselves a HUGE hole ...

Both DeSantis and Abbott are buzzing around the fringe, publicly supporting Trump while they privately wait to see if he flames out as the presumptive nominee.

I agree with you about Romney. He's playing it close to the vest. I think Queen Ann still has the measurements for the White House drapes in her hope chest.

But then he still has that vote changing scandal by his campaign manager (Karl "It's in the bag" Rove) in 2012 when he lost to Obama in Ohio. That's very exploitable now since cheating by Republicans is such a hot button.

Also, I doubt if Romney would have the support of Vladimir Putin. Moscow needs a traitor in the Oval Office. There's always that to consider when it comes to whom is going to be the nominee if not Trump.

From my armchair, this is a fringe observation from the live election night tv stream and unknown outside of internet blogs. Non-event to normals lol.

Romney had Russia right in the 2012 debates against Obama. In the debate Obama mocked Romney for old-fashioned Cold War thinking, and soothed viewers that Russia was not a threat and the US was ushering in a great reset of geopolitical relations.
That werked well.

Good for the losing candidate. That's one less 'servicing' she will have to inflict on some man. I predict the orange fascist will be supporting female candidates left, right and center for the next few election cycles, now that Melania has moved out...

I think most SANE people (even those that voted for him the 1st time)
are Over Trump...

The problem is, about 33% of Americans are Clinically Insane...
so they don't need much to tip the scales in their favor.

Trumpy is not a king maker. Except maybe in his head.

He is a 60 time twice impeached Loser.

And. That's what Losers do.

They Lose. Unless, of course, they can manage to bend the rules in their favor. Which they ate desperately trying to do.

Trumpy and his hateful crew should be used to losing by now.
