Joey Jordison, a founding member of Slipknot, who drummed for the influential metal band in its most popular period and helped write many of its best-known songs, has died Monday at age 46, his family said. "We are heartbroken to share the news that Joey Jordison, prolific drummer, musician and artist passed away peacefully in his sleep," his family said in a statement. "Joey's death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow." No cause or place of death was provided.

This may or may not get traction here. I really tried not to like Slipknot as I thought they were a gimmick band but there is real talent in that group and they actually made some heavy and good music even if a bit twisted.

He was kicked out of the band in 2013. He was suffering from transverse myelitis. It is a neurological disease that cost him the ability to play the drums toward the end of his time with Slipknot but he played with other bands after.

Weirdest thing about slipknot is when they're not on stage some of them have a great sense of humor.

RIP Joey.
