Sitting in her hospital room in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Aimee Matzen struggled to breathe as she described how exhausting it is to have Covid-19.

"The fact that I am here now, I am furious with myself," she told CNN between deep, deliberate breaths. "Because I was not vaccinated."

You saw it was a brick wall, people told you it was a brick wall, you saw what running into brick walls does to other people.

Dearie, given your behavior if this particular brick wall doesn't kill you the next one will.

How many stories like hers need to be told before the morons of our nation start listening? This same scenario happens over and over again but the dummies still pretend that a vaccination is not a good thing for themselves. I don't like it that I am slowly losing compassion for them, this was an entirely preventable outcome but they preferred to listen to Trump instead of Fauci even though Trump got himself vaccinated back in December. Why don't they hate a guy that discouraged them from getting vaccinated while having himself vaccinated? I just don't understand that level of stupidity.

Systematically stupid people are often protected from their dangerous behaviors by systematically un-stupid people, whether the stupid admit that or not.

We deal with a virus in this case, which is unsympathetic and never pro-social. The stupid are slow to catch on because they are stupid and they will get sick and die. A story old since the start of time.

That is the face of a significant portion of anti-vaxx America too.

There will be stories like this right down to the very end.

Because it was a huge infusion of money to the pharmaceutical industry but now, ask youself, why hasn't he made speeches, even commercials telling his idiot supporters to go get vaccinated?

I don't know what circles you travel in but that is the opposite of the experience I have had. The intelligent go get vaccinated, they dummies who wrongly consider themselves to be intelligent believe they know more than the scientists like Fauci. And let's face it, even though hypocrite Trump did get vaccinated he still belittles scientists and discourages his followers from listening to scientists.

I calculated and posted this before, but it might be worth looking at again in this context:
Group: - Unvaccinated/Vaccinated ratio:

  • Uninsured under 65 - 200.0%
  • Ages 18-29 - 170.6%
  • Republican - 158.1%
  • HS or less - 135.3%
  • Black - 127.3%
  • Income less than 40k/year - 127.3%
  • Rural - 125.0%

WHY pray tell did he initiate Operation Warp Speed?

#11 | POSTED BY PHESTEROBOYLE

I will give Trump credit in that Operation Warp Speed perhaps accelerated the development of vaccines. It was unfortunate to find out later that the Trump Administration had done little planning for mass production and distribution, after development.

As to why Trump pushed Operation Warp Speed? We may never really know. We DO know that Trump never does anything unless he believes he will personally benefit. A better question might be; If Trump really pushed Operation Warp Speed for the benefit of all Americans, why didn't he continue to demonstrate significant leadership, by doing everything within his ability to encourage his supporters to get vaccinated, even after he lost? Why isn't he doing so now? If he believed in a vaccine (as he apparently did, because he's vaccinated), why did Trump continue to foment the lies that the virus is a hoax (no worse than the flu), except for his own political gain?

Trump may have helped with some aspect of vaccine development. (I'm not certain Operation Warp Speed really accelerated development as much as Trump would have us believe.) But in every other action, Trump's refusal to promote sound scientific advise, his political rhetoric, and his lack of leadership has cost hundreds of thousands of American lives.

"I'm not certain Operation Warp Speed really accelerated development as much as Trump would have us believe."

OWS was (generally speaking) the intersection of two relatively new horizons: mapping of the human genome, and Watson-level (and higher) computing. This allowed the normal steps to be taken not sequentially, but concurrently.

If he really cared, why did he spend all his time lying about the election and trying to corrupt democracy instead of making a vaccine distribution plan?

If he really wanted everyont to take the vaccine, why did he get vaccinated in secret instead of in public like biden?

Because he was a vapid moron who's "thoughts" (if you can call them that...) changed depending on who he was talking to, what he wanted and whether his diaper was full or not.

Somebody got to him and got him to sign off on it because he needed some positive publicity. He was being hammered.

But weight that one action with the rest of his behavior.

He oversold a "treatment" that didn't have data supporting it.

He undersold the severity of the virus despite knowing how dangerous it was.

He tried to act like Superman when his idiocy led him to contract it, even though the regimen of care he received was light years beyond what his gullible supporters would ever dream of getting.

He was vaccinated in secret.

My guess as to why he supported War Speed? It was his hope it would make the vaccine be available by election day. It was simply part of the political calculus to win in November.

That's why the roll out after the election was lost was a joke and the stockpiles empty when Biden took office. For Trump the vaccine was a campaign tool. He gives zero ----- about people.

In a nutshell, OWS provided funding for R&D (not including Pfizer), provided government health agency access to developers, and help to ramp up production.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services' fact sheet, the main stated goal of Operation Warp Speed was to "produce and deliver 300 million doses of safe and effective vaccines with the initial doses available by January 2021
As others have said, plans to actually get shots in arms were practically nonexistent.

How could anyone possibly have believed Trump when he minimized COVID despite being hospitalized and requiring experimental monoclonal antibodies to save his own skin? Makes no sense that they would have.

Nothing that made a positive difference in American's lives ever came from Trump. Someone else came up with OWS. Whoever that was sold the idea to him based purely on how much people would love him. That's all that motivates Trump. What's in it for him.

And he never gave two s***s about you, Phester.

Natural selection not so much a thing?

#38 | Posted by madbomber at 2021-07-31 02:35 PM | Reply

Darwinism presupposes an organism is able to procreate. Non-reproducing humans can still carry and spread the virus.

#39 | Posted by jakester at 2021-07-31 02:44 PM | Reply

Not stronger,
Better adapted.

"Fittest" is not physical (or even mental) fitness, but how well "fitted" a species is to the environment it inhabits.

#40 | Posted by YAV at 2021-07-31 03:15 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

She likely has already procreated and if she hasn't she's not likely to.

So natural selection isn't really an issue here.

"So natural selection isn't really an issue here."

I know. It seldom is when someone mentions Darwin in a venue such as this. Darwin is usually invoked for jocular, not practical reasons relating to the context.
