You can't hold the GOP leadership responsible for what their constituents hear them say

One way or another.

Republicans will steal elections.

Even when it should be criminal to do so.

Especially in such a blatant and provocative manner.

They're burning down democracy in Dixie.

Where are the right wingers on this site to justify all this?

You almost lost your democracy in January. You will lose your vote and voice in the next election... When the Republicans come back into power the United States will not survive.

What democracy lovebug?

I reckon' this here be a constitutional republic.

If presidential candidates can win the popular vote and still lose the election then this ain't no democracy.

Democrats, liberals and progressives should be preparing just like the right wing a******s have been doing. If they fraudulently elect candidates we need to totally deny the legitimacy of the election. They are trying to steal it already. No Republican victory in a purple state like Georgia or Florida that results in a Republican victory is legitimate. They are cheating right in front of us and expecting us to pretend to not notice. But we do notice and we will not be silent when they do that. You think the right can make noise, may I remind you of the "Million Man March" and the protests about Vietnam. Liberals, Democrats and Progressives can and will make the right's protests look pathetic in comparison to those that will be mounted when the GQP tries to steal an election. It will be like the difference between Obama's Inauguration crowds compared to Trump's.

This kind of BS is getting old. The majority of this country does not support these fascist wackos. I don't know when, but at some point this majority will say enough, and there will be a violent response.

BTW, I travelled to D.C. and attended Obama's second Inauguration. I was on the mall but I was on the front row of the crowd But then, I arrived hours before the Inauguration began, freezing my ass off. But I have never had a better day in my whole life, hung out with the nicest people. Had a great time. Unforgettable!

Anyone surprised by that MTG is from Georgia?:

Here's a portion of a video Marjorie Taylor Greene posted on GETTR but not here on Twitter.

"Joe Biden, you are not a president. You are a piece of ----."

Not surprising. That schtick is pretty much her whole political career.

I don't understand the absence of Republicans in this thread. They should be happy. They're winning. This is what they want.

Where are they?

Do they know they're cheating, and feel ashamed about it, and that's why they won't show their faces?

The GQP hates democracy. They don't understand that a free and fair election means you have a chance to win and you have a chance to lose. They want to ensure that they never again lose an election, which makes what they're attempting an autocracy, led by a minority party.

Democrats, liberals and progressives should be preparing just like the right.

With the exception of the one statement by Danni above this thread is just one big every other one concerning voter laws.

Why aren't Democrats contacting their representatives and demanding they do something like pass a voting rights bill.

#24 | Posted by ScottE at 2021-08-19 05:27 PM | Reply

I'm assuming states where voter restriction laws are being implemented. Or voters are being purged. Or mail in voting is being eliminated. Or obstruction to voting is becoming legalized.

Are mostly (entirely?) states where Republicans control state legislation.

Question really is.

Why are moderates and conservatives okay with this blatant obstruction and perversion of democracy?

I won't try to answer what others are thinking but the Dems can do some things...1 in 5 eligible voters aren't registered so work on getting them registered. Almost half the eligible voters don't even bother to show up and vote so work on getting them to the polls.
The "For the People Act" has 3 parts, Voting, Campaign Finance, and Ethics. The Republicans seem to have a big problem with the campaign finance part so be willing to drop that whole section to get the voting part through. I'm not saying campaign finance isn't a problem but one thing at a time...make sure that access to voting remains again and honest.
I think one common sense measure would be to mandate the maximum number of voters in a precinct and the required number of voting machines per person in a precinct along with mandating that all waiting area to vote have a working HVAC system and public restroom facilities.
