In a move that will surprise absolutely no one, Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration has created a rule that will slam businesses, governments, and schools with monster fines should they require proof of vaccination from members of the public.

My former wife and I went to Orlando for our honeymoon thirty-five years ago and had a wonderful time. My current wife is from Thailand, and I was hoping to one day take her to Orlando, she loved Disneyland and Universal Studios in California, and I thought she would enjoy this just as much, but as long as Rona Ronnie DeathSentence and the GQP are in control, we will be spending exactly ZERO dollars in that state or any red state for that matter.

I guess that explains why Disneyworld pulls in only $7 billion/year or about $20 million/day and 157 million visitors a year.

It's really just an overbuilt DDT polluted sandbar, full of sinkholes, swamps, toxic algae and crazies. People go there to do behave in ways they wouldn't at home... not much different than Tiajuana Mex.

Another thing about boycotts that is so stupid: People who scream "BOYCOTT!" don't care who a boycott hurts. About half the people in Florida are Democrats. Even if a boycot of say, Disneyworld, is successful, why are people who don't live there willing to throw all those people (half democrats) under the bus? Why rob them and their families and kids of food and shelter? Just so you can vainly virtue signal?

The Chic-fil-A attempted boycott is another exampler. All these SJWs wanted the restaurant to go under and put tens of thousands of people out of work -- including the numerous gays who work there -- in an attempt to punish one man, a man who is so rich he probably wouldn't have affected greatly.

Let that sink in. Again: The SJWs were willing to put mothers, teens, fellow gays out of work putting hardship and financial strain on many families to get to one man. Selfish ------- virtue signaling SJWs.

The beaches in California are indeed beautiful. But as a swimmer, the Pacific Ocean is too cold for me. The Gulf is like bathwater. The Atlantic is almost as warm.

In Florida you can watch the sun set from a white sand beach on the est coast, then drive a couple of hours and watch it rise over the Atlantic. We've done that (and vice versa) a few times.

You are correct the state depends on forign tourism. There have always been cries that this or that was going to kill it. It hasn't. I remember a few years ago a European tourist (I think Briytish) was murdered and everyone predicted the lack of foreign tourism due to that incident would kill Florida. It didn't.

Its tourist industry continues to climb steadily, except for the effects of the pandemic, of course. I posted a link earlier to support this.

You may muse on Florida's future, but the data, trends, and history do not support your prognostication.

Actually the graph was a current one that showed the last ten years of travel. If you think I'm wrong, how could they have predicted ten years ago the drop in tourism in 2020 due to the pandemic

#41 | Posted by snoofy at 2021-09-03 12:31 PM | Reply

Well, jakester, it only declares it's an estimate at the top of the graph

But that's secondary

This graph was created by a husband and wife travel agency for the purpose of marketing their travel packages to Germans and fellow Nigels

You should check out their "about" info. It describes Orlando as the ultimate destination where you can rent their property, (packages) and use their guide knowledge, (included in the travel package) so as to avoid "pitfalls" Florida throws in your path while visiting the usual tourist destinations,(also conveniently included in their travel package)

It's comical you would use this as your evidence Florida hasent deteriorated from what it was, in the attempt to convince people who have and do live there now.

Why you used this garbage as your "proof" is baffling

#42 - "Well, jakester, it only declares it's an estimate at the top of the graph"

Yes, because it's an estimate of what had happened, not a prediction of the future as you claim. The Europeans who made the graph obviously don't ask everyone of their citizens where they are going. The estimate in all likelihood was based on statistical data like a poll. Jeez, can you really not understand this?

Again, if it was a forecast type estimate, how did they know in 2010 that there would be a pandemic ten years later that would curb tourism?

FFS, man. Get a grip.

You keep telling me I need to do look at this or I need to do that to prove your point. It's your point. It's your claim. YOU prove it.

I'll continue to wait for your link to the corroborate your claims.

Yeah no worries. With death numbers that high Florida will have no problem attracting the Death Cult crowd. A lot of people are into that I hear. Death has been popular off and on throughout history. It was once very popular in Egypt. Still is I guess. And now, apparently it's very popular in Florida!

For the rest seeking to chill on the beach or ski in the mountains, or do the Disneyland thing maybe get a cool job or seek other forms of enlightenment or just live long healthy lives they will come to California..(we have our own mousehouse if that is what you are into).

Even with the climate driven wildfires the weather is still better here. And we have any kind you want! Your odds of surviving covid certainly are better here. Even in crazy town (LA).

Ivermectin doesn't work against COVID, top Alabama doctors say

Five of Alabama's most prominent physicians agreed on a video call that using the drug ivermectin to try to treat or prevent COVID-19 is just a bad idea.

"The drug doesn't work against COVID, full stop," said Dr. Michael Saag, an infectious disease specialist at UAB. "You might read on the internet that it works. I'm sorry, that's wrong."

Ivermectin is a drug approved for use in humans to treat illnesses caused by parasites. It's also widely used on animals as a de-worming agent for horses, cows, sheep or other large animals. Demand for the drug has sky-rocketed in recent weeks, thanks largely to rumors of its effectiveness against COVID-19. Meanwhile calls to poison control centers in Alabama and Mississippi have skyrocketed, thanks to people ingesting the form of ivermectin that is intended for use on animals.

"I've personally seen quite a few patients come into the emergency room sick from it," said Dr. David Thrasher, a pulmonologist in Montgomery.

Thrasher and Saag participated in the call with Dr. John Meigs, Alabama State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris and Dr. Aruna Arora, president of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama. None said they thought ivermectin was a good idea for COVID patients.

That's in line with a warning from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released last week titled "Why you should not use ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19."

Merck, the drug company that makes ivermectin and profits from sales of the drug even issued a statement that it was not recommended for use in COVID-19 patients.

The drug-maker said in its statement that it had found "no scientific basis" that the drug was beneficial to COVID patients, and "a concerning lack of safety data in the majority of studies" examining the potential use of ivermectin on COVID patients.

Thrasher said his clinic used to prescribe ivermectin (and hydroxychloroquine) to COVID patients, but has stopped as newer studies have shown both drugs to be ineffective at treating COVID.
