The lack of concern about dead Texas children fascinates me given some posters have congratulated the State for "protecting its (unborn) citizens" from abortion.

What, exactly, makes one of your kids less valuable after he is born?

We're too busy in Florida enjoying our "FREEDUMB!" to care about Texas, Zed. Plus with the SCOTUS new replacement by rape and ------ ruling, you'll soon have enough kids to replace the few that are dying from a little flu.

We all talk about Texas and Florida but it is the South. It is the Confederacy. Every single Southern state is trying to take away womens' rights, deny science, refute doctors, give tax breaks to millionaires, etc. It's just that Texas and Florida are bigger states than the others. Now, Louisiana is destroyed again, and I won't object to it but it is time we start reminding them that their hatred for the federal government is self-defeating. They need the help from the federal government and they should get it but they should stop whining about the same government they beg for assistance.

The DeSantis denial machine is already in high gear, trying to blame the Biden Administration for something relating to monoclonal antibody treatment, after folks get sick because they didn't mask up and didn't get vaccinated. If Florida is a leader in monoclonal antibody treatment, why are so many dying in Florida hospitals? Perhaps folks should remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure ...

Next years gubernatorial election in Florida will be a real referendum on whether the people of Florida really give a damn about the extremely high number of unnecessary deaths the State has suffered due to State government inaction and disregard.

Yeah, but...

...who's counting and reporting the results?

I'm not convinced Florida is what Gov DeSantis is looking forward to...

At the rate it's going, it won't matter if reporting is done or not. It will get to the same state as cancer...everyone knows someone. At that point it no longer can be hidden just how bad it is. All the counting and reporting will reveal just how one sided it is, further undermining the trust in government.

From the article cited in #11

...A recent Quinnipiac University poll found DeSantis' overall job approval rating at 47 percent, a plurality, but 51 percent disapproved of his handling of the pandemic. A plurality, 48 percent, said he should be re-elected, but 59 percent said they don't want him to run for president in 2024.

Other questions found growing dissatisfaction with DeSantis over pandemic measures: 61 percent said the recent surge in Covid cases was preventable. And 69 percent said DeSantis' threat to withhold salaries from local school officials who mandate masks was a bad idea....

The GQP doesn't give a damn about children, they have NEVER cared about children, if they had, they would have done something about school shootings beyond "thoughts and prayers." No, for the GQP, guns are more important than children. If the GQP cared about kids, they would support social programs like school breakfasts and lunches, food stamps and WIC, healthcare for everybody, etc. If the GQP cared about children, they would have objected to the Drumpf Regime's torture of unaccompanied minors at the border. For the GQP tax cuts for the rich are more important than children. For the GQP the fetus is only important as a political cudgel. In reality, the Talibaptists could care less about children, what their opposition to abortion is about is controlling the bodies of women, especilly poor women. You know damned well that if the daughters of any of these rich Rethuglicans were impregnated by a brown man out of wedlock, in particular if it was from a sexual assault they would immediatly have their daughter at their doctor for an abortion even if she objected. The GQP is the party of gaslighting and hypocrisy.

"What, exactly, makes one of your kids less valuable after he is born?"

Once they're out, They have Free Will, and Free Will can be used to do Evil Things.

But While they're still inside the womb, they exist in a Perfect State of Grace, where G-d is In Control of All Things.

They're basically unblemished by Sin. But all that goes away when they get born, because the first thing they do is have a vagina around their neck, and that is undeniably a naughty thing to do.

I'm technically a millennial, but don't relate to the general group as a whole. And I was 19 when 9/11 happened. My group of friends were primed to become patriots and march off to war. Fortunately, they all came back. But they were never the same. Very different people I struggle to relate with, now.

If this is all part of god's plan, who do these anti-abortionists think they are? The women getting abortions is all part of god's plan! Those dead babies were never supposed to walk this Earth, according to god's plan.

This is partially why I don't believe any of these -------- actually believe in any of the religious BS. It's just comforting to fall into the God of the Gaps reasoning and looking down on people. I'm so thankful that I never went back to the church or that BS line of reasoning.

" I'm so thankful that I never went back to the church or that BS line of reasoning."

You and me both. If there was such a thing as a soul, religion would be sucking them from people, not saving them. God is an invisible crutch. I guess it's great a myth makes some folks feel better, but they need to keep that ---- to themselves. And the institutions that promote the myth should be taxed! I mean, if Hollywood fantasies are taxed, why aren't religious fantasies?
