Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

More than 7 million out-of-work people across the United States are set to lose all of their jobless benefits this week as three federal programs expire on Monday, in what several experts described as one of the largest and most abrupt ends to government aid in U.S. history. In addition to the more than 7 million people who will lose all their benefits, nearly 3 million more people will lose a $300 weekly boost to their state unemployment benefits.

"I worry that we're pinning heavy hopes on the economic upside of turning off these benefits when these benefits weren't the primary factor holding people back from returning to work, and they're also providing an important boost to spending," said Fiona Greig, co-president of the JPMorgan Chase Institute.

What will the wealthy do when tax cuts run out?

The economy will feel the hit. Less money spent in the economy is going to be the result. If you didn't already sell your house be ready to sit on it for a decade. That's my plan so it won't affect me too much but many were planning to cash out, if so you probably have a week to get it done.

Yeah. Going back to working for a living is gonna suck. Especially when you get paid less for selling your labor than the government was paying you for doing whatever you wanted with your labor.

Guess these deadheads will have to get a job, just like real people do. No more living off the taxpayers, like the old brokerage commercial ends. .".....we earn it.". No more sitting home doing just watching TV.

This will be devastating for Trump supporters who have been sitting at home for over a year now.

But unfortunately it is the China Joe crowd that is sitting home. Just like the red states are the ones prospering the blue states are suffering because it is DEMORATS that are sitting home on their asses. Sorry the facts are the opposite of your comment.

Of course you have some data to back up that rather broad statement?

Not my understanding. But you can prove your statement if you can. Otherwise, it's just another example of the sort of crap you people enjoy passing around.

Sure sounds like those people going back to work is going to be bad for the economy.

Mostly I don't think folks who are unemployed were buying houses. I am pretty certain that underwriters take a dim view of loaning money to people who's income source is UI benefits.

It will be interesting to see what this does for my work. Last year I had a 6 week backlog and at least a few of the customers told me that their fireplace hadn't been working for a couple years and they were using stimulus money to get it repaired finally. Mostly the demand was from WFH customers though. Since both WFH is down and stimulus is gone I have a double whammy going into the season.

See? The Nazis can convince themselves of any idiotic idea because they have networks supporting such lies. I know some Trumpies who have been sitting on their asses for several years so I'm sorry your point is absolutely b*** a***!.

And it's high time they got off their asses and stop leeching?

I just want to understand your point.

You've been defending people not working.

#2 | POSTED BY DANNI

I know of a number of people who decided to "cash out". Most of them couldn't find a cheap place to live afterwards.

I'm not defending people not working, But I am also not pretending the pandemic is over. Far too many people are doing exactly that. Because of DeathSantis they don't feel compelled to wear a mask while shopping and don't expect the rest of us to think they are pieces of filth. The extra unemployment money was to help people survive the pandemic so now that it is not over you just want to send people back into workplaces to get sick? Realize most government employees these days are still working from home. Just try to apply for the minnimal unemployment benefits that a state like Florida offers....it's virtually impossible. Have a problem with the IRS? Get ready to spend endless hours on the phone only to be disconnected. Our government is disfunctional but at the same time is pretending the pandemic is over even as our ICU units in our hosipitals are completely full to capacity. I have a neighbor who is a chef, restaurants are back operating as if the pandemic is over. The world is apparently just moving on regardless of the facts. We are having as many deaths today as we did a year ago. It's even worse now because kids are getting the disease just as easily as the elderly. So are young adults. That which was as disease mostly feared by the elderly is now one that all ages are threatened by. And just try insisting that anyone wear a mask. Good luck with that.

My next door neighbor is in that situation right now, she turned down the opportunnity to buy the townhouse she has lived in for years but I think she is regretting that decision now. I'm trying to help her find another place but it is tough right now.
My brother was trying to convince me to sell mine and move up where he lives, my mortgage is less than rent even where he lives in BFE.

"restaurants are back operating as if the pandemic is over. "

The pandemic isn't over, but our ability to care about it is over.
Look, we're just over 50% fully vaccinated as a nation.
Some people are already getting their third shot, while some will never get their first.
If you haven't been vaccinated by now you're basically choosing to play they odds, get sick and die.

Trumpcare is the preferred health care of Reupblicans.
It is the Republican Health Plan that Alan Grayson explained:
1. Don't get sick
2. If you do get sick
3. Die quickly

I'm just tired of trying to keep up with the rule changes. Its seem futile to me keep chasing the case numbers up and down like a yo-yo but it seem like that's what's going on. Numbers go down, change the rules. Numbers go back up, change the rules back again. Been going on for months. Makes me crazy.

Just got back from Publix and it was fairly packed.
The nice thing? Not a single person did NOT have a mask on.
Every single person had a mask on and not one that I saw was wearing it stupidly, like below their nose.
This is in Florida.
Thank you to the people around my area that are being responsible.
That was such a pleasant and welcome surprise!

Poor Trumpers. Now they need to get off their butts and find a job. And thanks to Biden, plenty of them out there.

So what's your answer, Danni? For over a year now one group of people has been going to work keeping the economy going round and round while the other group sits home playing video games and collecting a government check because going back to work is "risky". That is not endlessly sustainable. Our grandchildren will be paying that bill.

I was out and about today. I passed a fast food joint (Jack in the Box) with a sign saying they were hiring and starting wage was $14, almost twice minimum wage.

One is that it proves that jobs are out there and employers are begging for help.

Who wants to work at those jobs when there are maskholes that disrespect everyone by demanding "freedumb!" over sanity?
