I have now watched the trailer.

I now remember Matrix II was ok, and that Matrix III was mainly crap.

I hope to be surprised Matrix IIII isn't a complete failure.

A remake of Dune is also coming out. It has mixed reviews. Most say it is darker and moodier than the last one.

None will ever top the book, of course

I didn't think the first Matrix was that great. I never understood the hoopla over it. I agree with Tor that the subsequent ones kept getting worse.

I enjoyed the Matrix but had no use for the sequels with the exception of the Animatrix.

Dune would be crazy hard to fully translate to a movie as good as the book, it's way to much inner-monologue and the explanation of the world and government system would take a whole movie on it's own.

Animatrix was awesome.

The Eternals looks like fun.

I really liked the Matrix movies, but then I am an action movie junkie feeding my ADHD. I also grew up watching cheesy kung -- movies.

It had some great one liners to rival Terminator "We are gonna need guns, lots of guns"
Agent Smith was an great 'villain'.

And trinity in black vinyl was an added bonus.

#2 Dune might work as a series to develop all the intrigue, rather than pack in all the action into two hours. I will watch the movie though.

Dune is analogous to Afghanistan. Lithium is the spice, the freeman are fearless fighters, IEDs are the sandworms, the empire gets its ass kicked.

#8 - really cool analogy and I believe spot on.

But what is the lack of water?

#8 - I don't know if you've ever read The Mote in God's Eye, bored, but it is one of the best science ficgion books written, IMHO. I'd love to see a good movie made of that book. If done right, the visuals would be spectacular. Same for Ringworld. I wonder why neither of those have been made into a movie. Has Niven not given his permission?
