Jonathan Chait: The Democrats hold a slender majority in Congress and hope to enact an ambitious domestic reform program financed by taxing corporations and the very rich. The latter have unleashed a massive lobbying operation, the target of which is a small band of moderate Democrats in Congress who hold the balance of power.

Both sides are the same when it comes to greed and ---- over the poor. IMO poor is anyone making less than $20hr. People should not live check to check while some pay no tax and make more money the 1/2 of the country combined.

Have no illusions. It is not just Republicans. There are lots and lots of greedy self-serving Democratic politicians out there. If the money is there, the 'Wealth Lobby' will find them.

Really? Which side cut taxes for billionaires and which side is trying to cut them?

Which side created the consumer financial protection bureau to help the working class fight back against bank scams, and which side is trying to destroy that agency?

If you dont know the answer to these questions you shouldnt be talking about the topic.

If you do know the answer to these question then you know it's a lie to say "both sides are the same"

*which side is trying to RAISE taxes on billionaires?

Yeah lets blame the democrats for having a few members willing to sell out to the rich.

Meanwhile ignore the fact that it's just a given that republicans will ALL sell out to the rich.

They already gone.

Because their position is untenable.

Yes they are, and NOT ONE of the Democrats
who capitulates deserves reelection...

Virtually ALL Republicans will fight this tax, while only a handful of Democrats will buck their Party over it.

Both sides are NOT the same.

No doubt Democrats will remain true to form, and several will sell out for pennies on the billions.

Instead of excuses, deal with the facts.
Dems control the Senate, Congress and the White House.
Strike while the iron is hot, because their control will not last.

Ah but Phester, as a Republican, surely you know
the Democrats Achilles Heel is themselves. Hell,
I'm a lifelong democrat and I can't count the times
that the Dems have shot themselves in the foot,
when they could have 'seized the day'...

It is quite possibly the most annoying aspect of
my party...their lack of unity.

I have said for the last several years, that
while the Democrats fiddle around playing
Checkers and Chess, the GOP is playing 'Game of Thrones'.

It would be nice, for a change, if the Dems acknowledged
that fact, and started doing the same...

My US Senators cancel each other out. There's Tammy Baldwin (WI-D), selflessly making government work for the people, and Ron (Rojo) Johnson (WI-R), a mouth-breather who makes most other US Senators MENSA candidates in comparison. I will be working to get Tammy re-elected when she runs again.

Tammy Baldwin is a criminal.

I was in Green Bay last weekend and was surprised by the number of decrepit looking houses I passed in the countryside on the way to Madison what had rusty washing machines and other crap all over the yard but had huge Trump flags still hanging in the front yard by the road.

People who vote against their own best interest are such suckers.

In some cases they are poor. But I don't think you should make the mistake of generally taking the appearance of their yards as a sign of poverty. While I don't keep a yard like that, I know of a number of fairly well off people who do. They get all bent out of shape whenever anyone speaks of passing an ordinance to clean the yards up. Hoarders with money are not unusual. They're all about their property rights. That's why they don't live on some nice cul-de-sac where there's an HOA.
