Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Over the past several months, a series of studies has found that some people mount an extraordinarily powerful immune response against SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19.

This thread can go one of two ways

The usuals start yammering about how they "told you so" and lecture us that their superior genetics and astonishing immunity to a virus they only recently stoped saying was engineered as a weapon, is adequate

Or

They insist this is proof of a sorros master plan to create Democrat mutants, thus enslaving "conservatives" to mask camps where they will be indoctrinated into sharia and be milked for their bodily fluids.

To be one of these "super" humans one must first be vaccinated.

This is great news on so many fronts! First, I'm happy for all those who've overcome Covid no matter how minor the infections might have been. And my heart goes out to those who've toughed out harsher infections and even more to those still dealing with long Covid.

I can see this starting a quick and steady stream of formerly infected ready to get an mRNA vaccine "just in case the scientists are right" while humble-bragging about their "super immunity" at the same time..

And their children will be eaten. It's Hillary's will.

"And their children will be eaten. It's Hillary's will."

Yes.

In the lower level of a pizza parlor with no lower level.

Evolution at work.

Years ago, I remember reading about a small subset of Europeans in some small village that had a genetic marker that made them more resistant to the black plague centuries ago. It was very interesting.

#7 - such pockets of genetic anomalies are not that uncommon. THere is an enclave in Mexico who carry the wolfman gene, so called because they are completely covered with hair, even their full faces. THere is an isolated group in Yemen who will die if they eat a fava bean.

As you say, genetics are interesting.

The thing about this is those "pockets" don't have to be genetic. The use of mRNA alone may be enough. For several weeks I've been reading about the immune response continuing to grow, though a lot of the press has been discussing possible waning. The booster may be just the kick to produce super immunity against all forms of coronaviruses. The indication for this is in those that had COVID and then were immunized.

I was thinking about the greatest events in our history over the past 100 years. It may be that mRNA is one of them. Not flashy like landing on the Moon, but incredible.

One look at the Headline and I knew this was a story about Madbomber.

"Resistant to Black Plague"

That's good. Cause there is no such thing as the "Black Plague"

"Genetics are interesting"

You dweebs are so predictable

The article doesn't say jack about genetics

Good grief

#12 - You are 100% right about that, Chief. This isn't even paywalled.

"The article doesn't say jack about genetics"

It doesn't say jack about DR posters, either.

Good grief.

#15 - if you're so smart, why don't you ever post anything but drive-by attacks on other posters? I have never once -- literally NEVER -- seen you post anything on topic. Just childish insults. And you have the chutzpah to cry crocodile tears about someone posting something that wasn't mentioned in the article. Why is that, chieftutmoses? Eleanor Roosevelt answered that question before you were born.

In their defense. Why read anything when you already know everything

I mean, what good is a easy to understand and brief breakdown of a complex clinical process of our immune system when there is some grade a -------- to be flung

"why don't you ever post anything but drive-by attacks on other posters?"

Oh that is some classic GoatJacket. Give it up, lunger.

#17 - again, chieftutmoses talks about stuff that isn't in the article, yet expresses faux outrage about other people who do the same

Good grief.

Somebody has confused crying with mocking

#20 | Posted by ChiefTutMoses at 2021-09-10 11:34 PM | Reply

#20 - nowhere in the article is crying or mocking mentioned.

Good grief.

That's nice. I have no idea who Elenor is, but Eleanor Roosevelt says she has a small mind if she talks about people.

"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people"

Yeah ... about that.

Observant bloggers will recognize two truths: no one, and I mean NO ONE, spends more keystrokes posting about other people than Goatman.

In addition, every single time Goatman cites that quote ... it's in a post talking about people.

I think goatmans blow up doll is named Eleanor Roosevelt.

The thing about this is those "pockets" don't have to be genetic. The use of mRNA alone may be enough.

What do you mean? The mRNA is uniform and not from the genetics of the person injected.

The primary variable right now is the genetics of those injected. How they interact with the protein produced by the mRNA.

#26 | Posted by jpw at 2021-09-11 12:15 AM | Reply

JPW, I'm using mRNA only as a delineator of the vaccines. E.g:. J&J, AstraZeneca, SINOVAC, Ad5-nCoV, BBIBP-CorV, and mRNA (Pfizer, Moderna). The primary variable right now according to the article is the natural immune response due to exposure to SARS-Cov-2, followed by an mRNA vaccination (Pfizer or Moderna). This appears to be independent of the individuals genetics.

Expectation is that they'll see the same super-heightened immune response to all coronaviruses with a 3rd mRNA dose. It may work with the others as well, I just didn't see a focus on that in this article.

I never inferred that the mRNA vaccines had anything to do with an individual's genetics, or that somehow a persons individual genetics are used in it. I can't see how that'd even be possible. I was addressing the wacky turn towards genetics being the role in the "superhuman" response. No where is that even mentioned in the article. That came from people that didn't read it, made assumptions, and invented their own "story."

I don't feel lucky having had covid and the shot. The shot made me feel like ---- for a day - but this is fine because I would not want to be the reason someone dies - all Americans are my family.

Fair enough. I just didn't understand what you were getting at.
