Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

A former CIA analyst and current Brookings Institute senior fellow delivered a shocking revelation on Friday when he claimed that former President George W. Bush told then-British Prime Minister Tony Blair that he was going to attack Iraq just three days after the 9/11 attacks. "It shows that, on September 14th, I was in the Oval Office with the president when he talked to Tony Blair," he said. "And in the middle of the conversation with Tony Blair about 9/11, George Bush says, 'We're going to attack Iraq too.'" "Tony Blair was stunned," he said. "You could tell, listening to the phone call, that the British prime minister was completely taken aback!"

While we appreciate W.'s recent pro-American sentiments, it's things like this that keep me from sending him Christmas cards.

Remember when we said he lied us into war? This is sort of the proof we've been needing. Remember there were no Iraqis involved in the 9-11 attacks and 3days after the attack there was no reason to believe they were involved, it was just the "Pearl Harbor like event" mentioned in PNAC that he and Cheney had been hoping for to justify an invasion of Iraq.

He needs a cold cell and a bucket to ---- in. Why is America so bad at holding criminal leaders accountable?

W. and Cheney, and Rumsfeld, all should have been tried for crimes against humanity and waging aggressive war.

The Dems enabled that horror and they knew better. Only Barbara Lee had the courage to say no.

Militarism is our curse.

The MIC loves war mongers.

W's actions unleashed great evil, but his motivations were mostly vengeance, pride and greed wrapped in ignorance.

He won't be held accountable, but those with that power know it could be used against them.

"War is like crack for presidents. It confers instant gravitas, catapulting them to respectability, bypassing all station stops. They get to make macho pronouncements on a topic where every utterance is seen as august."

Blair left off the part where he dry-humped Bush's cowboy boots, jumped up into his lap, smiled seductively, batted his eyelashes, and asked, "Anything else I can do for you?"

Does Blair smell anti-Brexit blood in the water? This is the second time I have heard him pipe up, like he wants to attract attention again.

Blair knew it was a lie and tried to sell it anyway.

That's why he should melt in hell.

We had 4 and possibly 5 presidents in a row with obvious daddy issues.

Only W's directly got us into a war.

#9 - you're right. Congress should have stopped that idiot.

W knew that AQ was going to attack in the US and DID NOTHING TO STOP THEM.

He could have ordered cockpits to be reinforced like they are now, he could have ordered more screening on connecting flights from small towns. Any number of things could have been done to save the lives of three thousand Americans.

But he and DICK! needed a reason to invade Iraq and this would fit the bill.

What about the lives of 250,000 Iraqis and Afghans? They had NOTHING to do with 9/11. Their societies were raped and their freedoms destroyed by a conquering force unleashed upon them by LIARS.

Americans can be so obtuse and unthinking when it comes to their own evil.

Or are they just evil and don't care?

Let's thank the troops for their "service" again, shall we?

More self pitying lies from the talking heads.

When you consider that George H.W. Bush's war probably caused the Muslim radicals to attack the U.S. because he had stationed American troops in Saudi Arabia which was an insult to devout Muslims then you can figure out that bumbling idiots like Bush should never have had any high office of any kind in our federal government and that his idiot, deserter son was later also elected President just indicates how little Americans understand their government.

"What about the lives of 250,000 Iraqis and Afghans?"

Latest estimate of Iraqi deaths attributed to our invasion was 1,000,000.

"#9 - you're right. Congress should have stopped that idiot."

And they probably would have had not G.W. lied to Congress to get them to support the invasion which wasn't supposed to happen until the Iraqis had been presented with an alternative. G.W. Bush made himself clear while still Gov. of Texas. He intended to be a wartime president because wartime presidents have more power and he intended to use that power to privatize Social Security, which he actually did try to do but failed because the American people were not quite as dumb as he hoped.

"And they probably would have had not G.W. lied to Congress ..."

That's a pretty ------ up congress that doesn't verify facts when voting on something as profound as war where American lives are likely to be lost. Every member who voted for that war has blood on their hands.

#16 | Posted by jakester at 2021-09-13 02:59 PM | Reply

Primarily the blood of Innocents abroad. Our troops knew what they signed up for. They wanted that war. War brings respect and adulation from morons. War is its own reward.

America struck out like a wounded animal. We didn't look deeper into the lies because we wanted them to be true. The Dems are as bloodthirsty as the repubs, they just equivocate and lie about it.

Pelosi voted against the war to her great credit. Biden, Clinton, Kerry, all voted for it.

Some people just can't get off the wagon when it starts downhill.

The Dems who voted for that war should all be removed by the voters.

Many of their voters also wanted WAR.

That's why they're still in office.

Funny. Just days after 9/11, Tucker Carlson asked then Senator Joe Biden if Iraq was "somehow involved in the attack."

GW ---> Tucker Carlson ---> CNN's audience

Most of us suspected it was all a lie, now we get to see how the lie unraveled.

Sometimes "I told you so" really sucks. I remember arguing with people in this very forum bout Bushturd's intention. Frankly, he was so obnoxious I blame the current political climate's origins with his cowboy politicking. Stupid republicl0wns and their penchant for tough-talking frat boy losers.

They haven't gotten one iota smarter only louder and grimier.
